Great platforms should make it easier for people to build, deploy and improve products, without requiring every developer to become an expert in the infrastructure underneath. We are growing our Cloud Platform team and looking for a junior or mid-level engineer who wants to learn quickly while helping us create exactly that kind of experience.

You will work with AWS, Kubernetes and modern infrastructure tooling while supporting a platform used by around 80 developers and data scientists. It is a role with plenty of variety, from solving day-to-day technical challenges to automation and observability, alongside experienced engineers who will help you grow into broader platform engineering work.

About the Role

Our Cloud Platform team builds and runs the cloud platform that supports around 80 developers and data scientists. We want our users to spend their time creating great products rather than navigating the complexities of Kubernetes or AWS, which puts developer experience and simplicity at the heart of how we work. Joining the team gives you broad exposure to our platform and the opportunity to learn alongside experienced engineers as you gradually take on larger platform challenges.

Your day-to-day work will bring you close to both the people using our platform and the technology behind it. You will:

• Help developers get the most from the platform by answering questions, supporting onboarding and assisting with day-to-day use.
• Follow up on incidents and alerts, investigate what happened and help address the underlying issues.
• Keep our infrastructure healthy while improving how easily our systems can be observed and understood.
• Automate repetitive tasks and make practical improvements to our tooling and security.
• Take part in our 24/7 weekly on-call rotation once you have had an initial period to get familiar with the platform and how we work.

Our platform runs on AWS and uses managed services including EKS, RDS and MSK, alongside open-source software across several Kubernetes clusters. Infrastructure is declarative and managed through Git, with Terraform and ArgoCD as well as a broad observability stack. We also build tools for application delivery and CI, primarily using Go and C#, alongside scripting.

About You

You do not need to arrive knowing every part of our technology stack. What matters is a genuine curiosity about cloud-native technologies and AI, an appetite to understand why things break and a preference for fixing problems properly rather than repeatedly working around them. You enjoy helping other people, can make technical subjects understandable and are keen to keep learning across a wide range of technologies.

There are a few foundations that will help you get started and grow with the team:

• You have hands-on experience with some of: Linux, AWS, Kubernetes, Terraform, Git. Studies, a home lab or a first job all count. 
• You are passionate about cloud-native technologies and AI. 
• You like finding out why something is broken, and you like fixing it for good.
• If you have to do things repeatable, you have the urge to automate it away. 
• You enjoy helping people and can explain technical things clearly.
• You are curious and keen to learn a wide range of technologies.
• Your English is good, written and spoken. You say what you think.
• A degree in computer science. Equivalent practical experience is just as good.
