Exciting Opportunity at MSK:

Join MSK as a Clinical Nurse Per Diem, in the Thoracic Medicine Unit, where you’ll partner with a multidisciplinary oncology team caring for patients with thoracic cancers. You’ll provide compassionate, evidence-based nursing care throughout the treatment journey, supporting patients receiving chemotherapy, immunotherapy, targeted therapies, and other systemic cancer treatments.

Role Overview

• Practice within a Nurse–Physician–led Ambulatory Care Practice Model, supporting high-quality, coordinated care for patients with thoracic cancers.
• Provide clinical nursing support and assist in managing a caseload of patients receiving systemic anticancer therapies, including chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and targeted therapy.
• Conduct comprehensive nursing assessments, including evaluation of symptoms, treatment tolerance, functional status, and evolving patient needs.
• Educate patients and families about their treatment plans, medications, potential side effects, symptom management, and when to contact the clinical team.
• Provide ongoing symptom assessment and management for common treatment-related concerns such as fatigue, nausea, pain, respiratory symptoms, and other therapy-related toxicities.
• Review relevant clinical information and coordinate with physicians, advanced practice providers, and other members of the care team to support safe and timely treatment.
• Provide telephone and ambulatory triage, responding to patient concerns and helping determine appropriate next steps based on clinical needs.
• Coordinate care throughout the patient’s treatment journey, including treatment visits, follow-up appointments, testing, referrals, and transitions in the plan of care.
• Collaborate closely with a multidisciplinary thoracic oncology team to promote continuity of care and support patients and families throughout treatment and follow-up.

Key Qualifications

• New York State RN license required.
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required.
• Minimum of 1.5 - 2 years of related medical/surgical nursing experience required.
• Experience caring for patients receiving chemotherapy, immunotherapy, targeted therapy, or other systemic cancer treatments strongly preferred.
• Ambulatory oncology experience, including patient education, symptom management, and clinical triage, highly preferred.

• Hours: Per Diem shifts: 10 hours (8am-6pm flexed) Mon-Friday. No Weekends or Holidays
• Location: 530 East 74th (Koch)
• Reports To: Nurse Leader
