About Bluebird Kids Health
Bluebird Kids Health is a dynamic, fast-growing organization that provides underserved communities with access to value-based pediatric primary care. We are on a mission to provide exceptional care, so every child can thrive. We offer comprehensive, evidence-based primary and urgent care services to children and their families, with support around-the-clock. Our care model includes robust care coordination, chronic disease management, and other population health supports. Our success is measured by exceptional health outcomes, lower medical costs, an outstanding child and family experience, and a rewarding environment for our clinicians and staff.
Position Description
The Clinical Educator is the steward of clinical readiness and consistency across every Bluebird Kids practice. As we grow across Florida, this registered nurse ensures that every medical assistant, nurse, and provider, whether in a practice that has been open for years or one opening next month, delivers care that is safe, consistent, and aligned with our clinical standards and value-based quality goals. The role owns our clinical training infrastructure: onboarding and ongoing skills assessment and development, required certifications and compliance training, clinical policies and procedures, and the learning loop that turns clinical incidents into better processes.
This is a hands-on, statewide role. The Clinical Educator lives in Florida, spends time in each practice at least once a month, and leads on-site clinical training for every new practice launch. The right person is equal parts skilled pediatric nurse, teacher, and operator: someone who can coach a medical assistant on vaccine administration in the morning, close certification gaps across the organization in the afternoon, and write the policy that keeps both consistent.
What You’ll Do
- Continuous staff clinical skills training. Design and deliver a competency-based curriculum for medical assistants and LPNs covering pediatric vitals and growth measurements, immunization and medication administration, point-of-care testing, developmental and behavioral health screenings, phone triage, and infection prevention. With the Site Supervisor, validate competencies at onboarding, at 90 days, and annually, and provide just-in-time coaching during practice visits.
- New practice launch readiness. Lead on-site clinical training for every new practice launch in Florida, including staff onboarding, competency validation, clinical workflow walkthroughs, and go-live support, so each practice opens ready to deliver safe, consistent care from day one.
- Clinical policies and procedures. Drive the development, annual review, and rollout of clinical policies, procedures, and standing orders in partnership with clinical leadership. Ensure every team member is trained on changes and audit practices for adherence. Manage monthly provider meetings and track follow items to closure.
- Clinical incident response and process improvement. Respond to clinical incidents and near misses, lead root cause reviews, and translate findings into retraining, workflow changes, and policy updates. Partner with quality leadership on improvement work tied to our value-based quality measures, including well-child visits, immunizations, and screenings.
- Required trainings, tracking, and compliance. Own the system of record for staff and provider licenses, certifications, and required trainings. Monitor expirations, report completion rates to leadership monthly, and close gaps before they become risks in payer, credentialing, or regulatory reviews.
- Annual BLS training program. Run the BLS certification and renewal program for all clinical staff and providers, including scheduling, instruction or vendor coordination, and tracking. Lead periodic in-office pediatric emergency drills so every practice is ready for a medical emergency.
- Annual compliance trainings. With management team, coordinate, deliver, and track required annual trainings, including HIPAA, OSHA bloodborne pathogens, fraud, waste, and abuse, mandated reporting, and cultural competency.
- Provider compliance trainings. Ensure every provider completes required health plan trainings at onboarding and on each renewal cycle, with documentation ready for plan audits and credentialing. Train providers on other support program requirements as needed.
- Provider VFC re-enrollment. Lead annual Vaccines for Children provider re-enrollment for every practice and provider, coordinate VFC enrollment for new practices, and train staff on vaccine storage, handling, and temperature monitoring to protect site compliance and vaccine inventory.
- Trainee program administration (Nursing and APRN). Administer clinical rotations for nursing and APRN students, including school affiliation agreements, onboarding, preceptor assignment and development, scheduling, and evaluations. Build the program into a recruiting pipeline for future Bluebird Kids clinicians.
- Other duties as assigned
What You’ll Need
- Licensure and education. Active, unrestricted Florida RN license. BSN required; MSN or certification in nursing professional development (NPD-BC) or pediatrics (CPN) preferred.
- Experience. 5+ years of RN experience, including at least 3 years in pediatrics, with ambulatory or primary care strongly preferred. 2+ years in staff education, precepting, or clinical training.
- Environments. Experience in multi-site ambulatory practices, community health centers, or organizations serving Medicaid and underserved families. Exposure to value-based care or new clinic openings is a plus.
- Certifications. Current BLS required. AHA BLS Instructor certification preferred, or willingness to obtain within six months of hire. PALS preferred.
- Technical expertise. Working knowledge of VFC requirements, vaccine storage and handling, OSHA, CLIA-waived testing, and pediatric quality measures (HEDIS). Comfortable with EHRs, learning management systems, and Microsoft 365.
- Teaching and leadership. Strong command of adult learning principles and competency validation. Clear, warm communicator who builds trust with frontline staff and providers alike, and holds a high bar without losing the room.
- Organization and project management. Exceptionally organized, with a track record of leading multiple projects at once without letting details slip. Builds and maintains tracking systems, timelines and checklists. Follows action items through to closure and keeps leadership informed of progress and risks.
- Location and travel. Must reside in Florida. Travel to each Bluebird Kids practice at least once a month and on site for every new practice launch, with occasional overnight stays. Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required.
