Norpac Construction Incorporated is an independent geotechnical contractor operating across British Columbia and Alberta, specializing in slope stabilization and civil construction work. Projects are delivered in environments where terrain, access constraints, and delivery conditions require careful planning, technical expertise, and disciplined execution.

Founded in 2016, Norpac brings together a management team and workforce with more than 25 years of experience delivering slope stabilization, ground support, and related geotechnical solutions. Work is completed in close collaboration with clients to address site-specific conditions and project requirements.

Norpac provides end-to-end project support, including site assessment, solution development, design engineering where required, construction execution, and project close-out. Emphasis is placed on clear communication, coordination between field and office teams, and a team-based approach throughout the project lifecycle.

POSITION DESCRIPTION

We are seeking experienced and safety-focused Civil Equipment Operators to join our team. The successful candidates will have demonstrated experience operating excavators and dozers on civil construction projects. Experience operating a grader is considered an asset but is not required.

This role involves operating heavy equipment safely and efficiently to support site preparation, earthworks, grading, excavation, backfilling, road construction, drainage, and other civil construction activities.

Project locations include Alberta and British Columbia, but may extend to other regions as required.

Key Responsibilities

·         Safely and efficiently operate excavators and dozers in an active civil construction environment.

·         Perform excavation, trenching, ditching, backfilling, stripping, stockpiling, and general earthmoving activities.

·         Complete rough and finish grading as required.

·         Construct and maintain roads, pads, slopes, ditches, and other civil earthworks.

·         Work safely around underground and overhead utilities.

·         Follow grade stakes, elevations, drawings, and direction provided by supervisors and grade personnel.

·         Perform daily equipment inspections and pre-use checks.

·         Identify and report equipment defects, maintenance requirements, and safety concerns.

·         Maintain equipment cleanliness and assist with basic preventative maintenance when required.

·         Work effectively around ground personnel, spotters, trucks, and other heavy equipment.

·         Follow established safe work procedures, site rules, and project-specific requirements.

·         Participate in toolbox meetings, hazard assessments, FLHAs, and other required safety activities.

·         Communicate effectively with supervisors and other crew members.

·         Perform additional duties as required to support the civil construction team.

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

·         Previous experience operating excavators and dozers in civil construction, earthworks, or a comparable environment.

·         Ability to operate equipment safely, efficiently, and productively.

·         Experience working around active equipment and construction crews.

·         Understanding of safe excavation and earthmoving practices.

·         Ability to follow grades, stakes, and directions from supervisors.

·         Strong awareness of surroundings and commitment to workplace safety.

·         Ability to work outdoors in changing weather and ground conditions.

·         Valid driver's licence and reliable transportation to the work location, where required.

Preferred / Asset Experience

The following qualifications would be considered assets:

·         Grader operating experience is an asset but is not required.

·         Experience with GPS or machine-control systems.

·         Experience with finish grading.

·         Experience performing road construction, site development, underground utilities, or large-scale earthworks.

·         CSTS/CSO or other recognized construction safety training.

·         Ground Disturbance training.

·         First Aid certification.

PHYSICAL WORK REQUIREMENTS

Candidates should be able to:

• Work extended shifts when required.
• Work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Safely enter and exit heavy equipment throughout the shift.
• Perform routine equipment inspections.
• Work in environments involving noise, dust, vibration, uneven terrain, and moving equipment.
• Meet applicable site and project requirements.
