A role as a Category Optimization Merchant – Produce/Floral means working across several cross-functional teams to develop and execute guest-led merchandising strategies that drive growth, profitability and differentiation. You will bring a strong store and guest perspective to the business while partnering with Buyers and key teams to influence assortment, seasonal strategies, space, fixtures and merchandising execution.

In this role, you will help develop and evolve the Floral visual adjacency strategy, support seasonal strategy, own the Open Market shipper program, and serve as Co-Space Captain. You will identify opportunities to optimize Produce and Floral space and merchandising while using business results, consumer trends, competitive insights and store observations to inform recommendations.

You will build strong partnerships across Buyers, Inventory, Store Operations, field teams, vendors and third-party Floral merchandising partners to ensure strategies translate into clear, consistent store execution. You will also help develop merchandising guides, support new fixtures and strategies, resolve recurring execution opportunities, and train and onboard partners in Produce and Floral merchandising.

Your ability to connect financial and operational performance with what is happening in stores will be critical. You will analyze sales, inventory, allocations, margin and execution to identify opportunities and translate those insights into actionable recommendations that improve future programs and the guest experience.

About you:

• Four-year degree or equivalent experience
• 2+ years of Merchandising experience
• Strong strategic and analytical skills with the ability to translate data into actionable insights
• Strong collaboration and communication skills across cross-functional teams
• Strong understanding of Produce and Floral merchandising
• Experience with POGs, visual adjacencies, store layouts and merchandising execution
• Ability to build partnerships and influence across HQ, field, vendor and third-party teams
• Flexibility to travel and/or work occasional off-hours in stores for resets and execution
• Proficiency with PowerPoint, Excel and Word

This position will operate as a Hybrid/Flex for Your Day work arrangement based on Target’s needs. A Hybrid/Flex for Your Day work arrangement means the team member’s core role will need to be performed both onsite at the Target HQ MN location the role is assigned to and virtually, depending upon what your role, team and tasks require for that day.
