Purpose of the Role
The Business Development Director is a key commercial leadership role responsible for accelerating organic growth within Power Nailing’s priority market segments. Reporting to the Commercial Director, this role leads the Business Development team to develop and execute market penetration strategies, build strategic relationships with key industry partners and end users, and drive growth of differentiated solutions.
As part of a newly formed organization, the Business Development Director will also build Business Development capabilities, establish consistent operating disciplines, and strengthen Strategic Sales Excellence across the commercial organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Business Development & Market Penetration - Develop and execute focused business development and market penetration plans aligned with Power Nailing’s segment growth strategies. Identify, develop, and convert high-value opportunities within priority markets, establishing clear objectives and actions to increase penetration, drive incremental revenue, and expand market share.
- Strategic Partnerships - Build and strengthen relationships with key end users, builders, industry partners, and other market influencers. Leverage these relationships to identify emerging needs, validate growth opportunities, influence market adoption, and create new avenues for growth.
- Opportunity & Pipeline Development - Establish disciplined approaches to targeting, opportunity development, pipeline management, and conversion. Ensure the Business Development team maintains a strong pipeline of high-value opportunities and focuses resources against the opportunities with the greatest potential to deliver sustainable growth.
- Cross-Functional Growth Execution - Partner closely with Segment Management and Channel Sales to connect market opportunities with scalable commercial growth. Bring market and end-user insights back into the organization to inform segment priorities, innovation opportunities, and commercial strategies, while coordinating cross-functional resources required to advance priority opportunities.
- Team Leadership & Strategic Sales Excellence - Build, coach, and develop a high-performing Business Development organization. Establish clear expectations, accountability, and operating disciplines while strengthening Strategic Sales Excellence capabilities across the commercial organization to improve execution and effectiveness.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Communications, Marketing, or a related field
- Proven success developing and executing business development and market penetration strategies that deliver profitable organic growth
- Demonstrated ability to build strategic industry relationships and convert opportunities into measurable business results
- Proven ability to build and develop Business Development capabilities and talent
- Demonstrated experience leading and developing high-performing teams
- Strong commercial and financial acumen
- Demonstrated ability to lead and influence effectively across functions
- Strong communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills
- 10+ years of business development, sales, or related commercial experience
- 5+ years of management experience
- Ability to travel approximately 45%
Preferred Qualifications
- MBA or master’s degree
- Experience within durable goods, construction, building products, or a related industry
- Experience developing or implementing strategic sales processes, tools, or capabilities
- Experience working with end users/construction trades, builders, distributors, and other industry partners a plus

Compensation Information:
Annual base salary range for this position is $155,000 - $185,000 with bonus. Please note that this salary information serves as a general guideline. Company considers various factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate's work experience, education and training, key skills, as well as market and business considerations.
