- Define and implement the global Business Continuity approach across the programme, ensuring continuity risks are identified, assessed, and actively managed.
- Align continuity strategy with enterprise risk, controls, and compliance frameworks.
- Establish business continuity governance, standards, controls and reporting.
- Ensure continuity requirements and risks are embedded into programme governance, stage gates and deployment readiness criteria.
- Ensure all implementation partners meet contractual continuity obligations.
Continuity Planning & Execution
- Lead and oversee identification of critical business processes across the end-to-end process landscape, facilitating Business Impact Assessment (BIA) and plan development.
- Establish continuity plans that safeguard critical operations during design, deployment, and transition phases.
- Develop, maintain, and test Business Continuity Plans (BCPs) for key scenarios (e.g. system cutovers, data migration, disruption to operations).
- Develop end-to-end recovery scenarios across people, process, data, application and technology dimensions, ensuring these are integrated across programme workstreams.
- Ensure manual workarounds and fallback procedures are documented, tested, and deployable.
Integration with Transformation Delivery
- Work in close partnership with Business Process Owners, Change, and Technical teams to embed continuity into business & technical design decisions and deployment plans.
- Provide challenge and oversight to ensure delivery plans are “safe to land” from an operational perspective.
- Validate operational readiness for cutover, hypercare, and business-as-usual reporting.
- Validate recovery capabilities through rehearsal exercises and testing.
Risk, Controls & Compliance
- Partner with Business Information Protection & Security to define and implement continuity-related controls, ensuring alignment with regulatory, SOx/GxP, and audit requirements.
- Partner with Technology, Infrastructure, Security and Delivery partners to ensure technical resilience requirements are incorporated into solution design.
- Ensure robust audit trails, documentation, and evidence are in place to support compliance requirements.
Testing, Readiness & Go-Live Assurance
- Define the Phoenix Cutover Continuity framework.
- Identify all continuity risks associated with deployment events.
- Lead continuity testing (e.g. scenario testing, cutover rehearsals, failover simulations) to validate plans.
- Define and track continuity entry and exit criteria for deployment waves.
- Provide clear go/no-go recommendations based on operational readiness and risk exposure, supported with evidence based continuity risk assessments.
- Oversee business continuity decision-making during deployment command centre operations.
- Support hypercare command centres and incident governance, ensuring lessons learned are incorporated between deployment waves.
Stakeholder Alignment & Communication
- Act as the single point of accountability for business continuity across functions and markets.
- Engage senior stakeholders to ensure clarity on risks, mitigation plans, and required decisions.
- Drive awareness and adoption of continuity plans across the business.
Capabilities & Experience
- 10+ years experience leading Business Continuity, Operational Resilience, Service Continuity or Deployment readiness activities within complex enterprise transformation programmes.
- Demonstrable experience supporting major ERP transformations, preferably SAP S/4 HANA implementations.
- Strong stakeholder management with the ability to challenge senior leaders and influence decisions; experienced in presenting continuity risks to Executive level audiences.
- Ability to lead cross-functional teams through ambiguity and crisis scenarios.
