Mission Software Systems (MSS) brings together expertise across intelligence, software, and cloud to deliver end-to-end capability supporting the full intelligence lifecycle, from planning through to dissemination and feedback. The team fosters a culture of innovation, leveraging modern engineering practices and shared infrastructure to rapidly build, test, and deploy software solutions across a range of environments, including cloud. MSS also plays a key role in advancing technology modernisation within Government, delivering scalable and adaptable solutions for complex enterprise challenges.

The Opportunity

As a Senior Business Analyst, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and delivering technology solutions that address complex business challenges and create meaningful outcomes for customers and stakeholders. Working across cross-functional teams, you will bridge the gap between business needs and technical delivery, ensuring solutions are practical, scalable, and aligned to strategic objectives.

In this role, you will:

• Partner with business stakeholders, product owners, solution architects, developers, and delivery teams to elicit, analyse, and document complex business and system requirements.
• Lead discovery, process mapping, impact assessments, and solution design activities to support the delivery of enterprise software applications, integrations, and digital transformation initiatives.
• Translate business needs into clear user stories, functional and non-functional requirements, process models, and acceptance criteria, enabling delivery teams to build high-quality solutions.
• Drive stakeholder engagement throughout the project lifecycle, supporting prioritisation, solution validation, testing, change implementation, and continuous improvement within an Agile delivery environment.

About You

You are an experienced Business Analyst who enjoys working at the intersection of business and technology. You bring a consultative approach, are comfortable navigating ambiguity, and have a proven ability to turn complex requirements into practical software solutions. You thrive in collaborative environments and can confidently engage with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Essential

• Significant experience as a Business Analyst delivering software development, application delivery, or digital transformation projects.
• Experience working with Agile delivery methodologies and practices, including user story development, backlog refinement, and sprint-based delivery.
• Demonstrated capability in requirements elicitation, business process modelling, workshop facilitation, and stakeholder management across diverse business groups.
• Experience translating business requirements into functional specifications, process flows, use cases, user stories, and acceptance criteria for technical delivery teams.
• Knowledge of system integration concepts, APIs, data flows, and enterprise application environments.
• Ability to analyse complex business problems, identify opportunities for improvement, and support solution design and implementation.
• Experience supporting solution testing, business readiness activities, and successful adoption of technology outcomes.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence, negotiate, and build productive relationships across business and technology teams.

Advantageous

• Experience working within large enterprise environments delivering complex technology programs.
• Knowledge of cloud-based platforms, modern software architectures, and digital product delivery practices.
• Experience working closely with software engineering, architecture, UX, and product management teams.
• Relevant qualifications in Business Analysis, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
• Certification such as CBAP, CCBA, Agile Analysis Certification (AAC), or equivalent Business Analysis credentials.

This role requires the successful applicant to be an Australian citizen, hold an NV-1 security clearance and be willing to uplift to NV-2.
