Master Works is seeking a Big Data, Administrator to manage, maintain, and optimize enterprise Big Data platforms and distributed data infrastructure. This role is responsible for ensuring the availability, performance, security, and reliability of large-scale data environments, while supporting data engineering, analytics, and business applications. The ideal candidate combines strong Big Data administration experience with expertise in Linux, distributed systems, monitoring, troubleshooting, and production support.
Key Responsibilities
- Administer, configure, maintain, and optimize enterprise Big Data platforms and distributed data environments.
- Monitor platform health, system availability, resource utilization, and overall performance.
- Install, configure, upgrade, patch, and troubleshoot Big Data platforms and related components.
- Manage distributed data storage, backup, recovery, replication, and disaster recovery processes.
- Perform performance tuning, capacity planning, and resource optimization across Big Data environments.
- Manage user access, authentication, authorization, security policies, and role-based access controls.
- Monitor and resolve production incidents, platform issues, and system performance problems.
- Support data pipelines, processing workloads, and data applications in collaboration with Data Engineers, Developers, and Infrastructure teams.
- Implement automation and scripting to improve administrative and operational activities.
- Maintain technical documentation, system configurations, operational procedures, and platform runbooks.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in Big Data administration, infrastructure management, or a related technical role.
- Hands-on experience administering Big Data technologies such as Hadoop, Spark, Hive, Kafka, or similar distributed data platforms.
- Strong knowledge of Linux/Unix systems, server administration, and system troubleshooting.
- Good understanding of SQL, databases, distributed systems, data storage, and data architecture.
- Experience with monitoring, incident management, performance tuning, capacity planning, and production support.
- Strong understanding of data security, authentication, authorization, access management, and enterprise security practices.
- Experience with cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud is preferred.
- Experience with scripting or automation using Shell, Python, Ansible, or similar technologies is preferred.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
