Job Description
Purpose of the role
Facilitates and supports Agile teams by ensuring they follow Scrum principles. To remove obstacles, enhance team collaboration, and ensure smooth communication, enabling the team to focus on delivering high-quality, iterative results. Facilitate Scrum events, promote continuous improvement, and act as a bridge between the team and external stakeholders.
Accountabilities
1.Facilitate Events: Facilitate events, as needed, and ensure that all events take place and are positive, productive, and kept within the timebox
2.Support Iteration Execution: Ensure quality of ceremony artefacts and continuous customer value through iteration execution, maintain backlog refinement, and iterate on stakeholder feedback
3.Optimize Flow: Identify and facilitate the removal of conflict impacting team flow, utilizing metrics to empower the team to communicate effectively, making all work visible
4.Mitigate Risks: Identify and escalate risks to remove impediments and shield the Squad from interruptions
5.Build High-Performing Teams: Foster and coach Agile Team attributes and continuous improvement, encourage stakeholder collaboration, deputise ‘in the moment leadership’, and drive high-performing team attributes
6.Stakeholder Management: Facilitate stakeholder collaboration (e.g., business stakeholders, product teams, vendors) and build trust with stakeholders
7.Governance and Reporting: Ensure data quality and provide representation at required governance forums, if applicable

Join us as an AVP Technical Lead and SA – Power BI, at Barclays, where you'll spearhead the evolution of our Barclays team. As an AVP, you need to drive operational excellence across the Product organization by managing delivery tooling, reporting and analytics, performance metrics, governance processes, and planning activities. To ensures consistency, transparency, and scalability in how work is planned, measured, funded, and executed while continually identifying opportunities to simplify processes and improve organizational effectiveness.
To be successful as an AVP Technical Lead and SA – Power BI, you should have experience with:
- Proven experience as a Power BI Technical Lead, leading solution design, development, code reviews, performance optimization, releases, and production support.
- Strong expertise in Power BI Desktop and Power BI Service, including semantic models, dashboards, workspaces, deployment pipelines, gateways, refresh management, and administration.
- Advanced skills in DAX, Power Query (M), SQL, dimensional data modelling, performance tuning, and enterprise reporting.
- Experience as a Solution Architect, translating business and technical requirements into BI architectures, integration solutions, roadmaps, and design standards.
- Strong knowledge of API integration, including REST APIs, authentication, authorization, secure connectivity, data ingestion, monitoring, and integration with Power BI and enterprise platforms.
- Good understanding of enterprise infrastructure and networking, including cloud and on-premises environments, gateways, DNS, firewalls, proxies, load balancing, identity management, and certificates.
- Strong knowledge of information security, privacy, risk, and controls, with experience working with cyber-security teams on security design, risk assessments, access controls, vulnerability management, and approvals.
- Proven ability to lead technical teams, set standards, manage dependencies, and contribute to architecture and governance discussions.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to present options, risks, trade-offs, and recommendations to senior stakeholders.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
Some other highly valued skills may include:
- Experience in banking, financial services, or another highly regulated environment.
- Experience with Azure or AWS data and analytics services, cloud-native architecture, capacity management, resilience, observability, and cost optimisation.
- Familiarity with API management platforms, event-driven or microservices-based integration, and tools for API testing and documentation.
- Exposure to network and infrastructure design reviews, hybrid connectivity, disaster recovery, high availability, and operational readiness processes.
- Knowledge of CISO-led security governance, secure-by-design principles, data classification, encryption, secrets management, audit controls, and regulatory compliance.
- Experience with CI/CD, DevSecOps, source control, automated testing, and controlled deployment of Power BI and supporting platform components.
- Working knowledge of Tableau or other enterprise BI platforms.
- Relevant Microsoft Power BI, Azure, AWS, architecture, networking, or cyber-security certifications.
