About the team
The Atlassian Platform Administrator, Desktop Systems P4, is a senior technical administrator responsible for the reliable, secure, scalable operation and evolution of Zillow’s Atlassian platform. The role owns complex administration and configuration across Jira, Confluence, Jira Service Management, Loom, and related Atlassian capabilities; partners with engineering, product, identity, security, and business teams; and turns operational needs into governed, reusable platform patterns.This role is suited for an experienced administrator who can independently lead complex work, balance production support with platform improvement, and provide technical guidance to peers and stakeholders. They combine deep Atlassian Cloud expertise with strong judgment in automation, identity and access management, integrations, licensing, and governance.

About the role
Administer and evolve enterprise Atlassian Cloud products, including Jira, Confluence, Loom, and connected Marketplace applications
Design, configure, and maintain complex Jira projects, issue types, workflows, screens, fields, permissions, notification schemes, automations, reporting structures, and Confluence spaces
Lead technical discovery and solution design for advanced configuration, workflow, and integration requests, ensuring solutions align with platform standards, security requirements, and long-term maintainability
Own complex incidents and escalations; diagnose issues across Atlassian configuration, identity, browser and desktop environments, APIs, integrations, and third-party applications
Partner with Identity and Access Management teams on SSO, SCIM, group-based provisioning, service-account lifecycle management, privileged access, and auditability
Develop and maintain automations, API-based solutions, and operational tooling that reduce manual work and improve support quality, reliability, license efficiency, and customer self-service
Lead administration of platform licensing, including usage analysis, reclamation processes, exception management, capacity forecasting, and controls that minimize unused paid seats
Govern Marketplace app and integration requests through technical assessment, security and compliance review, vendor coordination, configuration, implementation, and ongoing operational support
Establish and maintain platform standards, reusable patterns, configuration guardrails, runbooks, and technical documentation
Support the Jira Space Administrator program and other delegated-administration models by defining safe self-service boundaries, enablement materials, and escalation paths
Plan and execute testing, change management, release readiness, and post-release validation for platform capabilities and significant configuration changes
Analyze support and platform data to identify recurring friction, prioritize improvements, and communicate operational health, risks, and outcomes to stakeholders
Mentor junior administrators and support engineers through troubleshooting, technical reviews, documentation, and knowledge transfer
Who you are
5+ years of experience in SaaS administration, enterprise application support, systems administration, or IT operations, including substantial hands-on Atlassian administration experience
Deep, practical experience administering Jira and Confluence in an enterprise Atlassian Cloud environment
Demonstrated expertise designing and maintaining complex Jira configurations, including workflows, schemes, permissions, custom fields, automations, dashboards, and reporting
Experience with Atlassian administration across user management, organization administration, licensing, product access, and governance controls
Strong knowledge of identity and access management concepts, including SSO, SAML, SCIM, group-based provisioning, service accounts, and least-privilege access
Experience diagnosing and resolving complex issues across SaaS platforms, integrations, REST APIs, authentication, provisioning, and enterprise end-user environments
Experience designing or supporting integrations between Atlassian products and enterprise systems such as Slack, Google Workspace, ServiceNow, Workday, Salesforce, GitHub, or GitLab
Ability to use automation and scripting to solve operational problems, such as Jira Automation, REST APIs, JSON, Python, JavaScript, or low-code workflow tools
Strong written communication skills, including the ability to create clear technical documentation, runbooks, standards, and stakeholder-facing guidance
Demonstrated ability to independently prioritize work, lead technical initiatives, and communicate trade-offs, risks, and recommendations to technical and non-technical partners
Preferred
Atlassian Cloud certifications, such as Jira Administration for Cloud or Confluence Administration
Experience with Jira Service Management, Assets, Atlassian Guard, Atlassian Analytics, Compass, Atlassian Teams, or Atlassian Goals
Experience supporting enterprise-scale user populations, multi-product licensing, and formal controls or compliance requirements
Experience evaluating and governing Marketplace applications, vendor integrations, and third-party security considerations
Familiarity with ITSM, ITIL, incident management, change management, problem management, and knowledge management practices
Experience leading migrations, large-scale configuration standardization, or platform modernization initiatives
