The Global Tax Compliance (GTC) tīma (team) are responsible for the back-office operations to support how BNZ fulfil its tax legislation obligations (the Common Reporting Standard 'CRS' and Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act 'FATCA').

We're an integral part of the Operational Excellence business unit and we collaborate and tautoko (support) our colleagues across BNZ to make sure we get this right first time and deliver a brilliantly simple experience to our customers. 

Tax compliance is still a very specialised area, so there is lots of opportunity to gain specialised expertise and learn and develop in this area. Each customer situation is different and requires a problem-solving 'how might we' mind set.

This is a 12-month fixed term opportunity based in Auckland. It is a hybrid role with three days in the office and two where you can work flexibly. The team anchor days are Monday to Wednesday.

What are the day-to-day tasks the person in this role will complete? 

• Reviewing and assessing customer’s CRS and/or FATCA cases to ensure compliance standards are met.

• Responding to customer and colleague queries on CRS or FATCA statuses and providing information and guidance on what needs to be done to meet the compliance standards.

• Providing feedback to internal team members about observations or areas of improvement.

• Collaborating with your team to ensure that we’re working efficiently and effectively, finding ways to improve what we do and the experience our colleagues and customers have with us.

What is the tīma culture and environment like?

What is your management style?

Collaborative, supportive, engaging, down to earth and focused. It's about understanding each part of our tīma, our remit and getting an operating rhythm that helps us to deliver what we need to together.

What is the most exciting thing about this opportunity?

There's a lot to learn! Tax compliance sits across all customer types, so it touches almost every area of the bank from minors to complex entities.

What is the most challenging thing about this opportunity? 
Same as above!

What specific Tech skills are required to be successful? 
We use bnzGO, Customer Signatures, VRetrieve and PEGA, and our own CRS Case Management system – however a good understanding of Microsoft Excel is always helpful.

What attributes will this person display in order to be successful in this role? 
A willingness to get stuck in and get the mahi done, strong interpersonal, relationship and communication skills and a willingness to become part of a hard-working Chevron winning tīma.
