The Howden Re decision support team (Modeling and Analytics) is unmatched in the industry in facilitating catastrophe reinsurance placements while also being integrally embedded within our clients' operations. As an associate catastrophe risk technical specialist, you will work together with the Analytics team to elevate our analytical offerings through Python application development.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Python Application Development: Take the lead in developing and deploying a diverse array of Python-based applications
• Service Enhancement: Be a key driver in elevating the quality of service provided to our clients
• Innovation: Seek out and implement innovative solutions to boost operational efficiency. Your creativity will be crucial in improving our analytical offerings, a cornerstone of our success in the ever-evolving landscape of (re)insurance
• Rapid Development and Deployment: Thrive in a fast-paced environment by developing and deploying solutions rapidly. Your agility and ability to adapt to changing requirements will be critical to our success
• Stakeholder Communication: Effectively articulate sophisticated solutions to a diverse range of stakeholders, translating technical concepts into clear and understandable language. Your communication skills will be vital in fostering collaboration and ensuring project success

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s or advanced degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Economics, Finance or similar analytical major
• Proven experience in Python application development, with a focus on efficiency and innovation
• Solid understanding of AI/ML methodologies and ability to develop, train, validate and deploy models, including LLM’s
• Critical thinking and problem-solving skills
• Experience manipulating, cleaning, and analyzing data
• Able to handle multiple tasks and projects simultaneously in a deadline-driven environment
• Effective communicator, both verbal and written
• Able to collaborate effectively across disciplines
• Experience in SQL, React.js, and FastAPI are a plus
• Legally authorized to work in the US
• Please note: this is a full time opportunity based in Edina, Minnesota.

The expected base salary for this role is $72,000 The base salary range and ultimate title is based on level of relevant experience and location and does not include other types of compensation such as discretionary bonus or benefits.
