Job Description Summary

Tenure-track Assistant Professor to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in School Psychology.

Job Description

 Tenure-track Assistant Professor to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in School Psychology; maintain an active research agenda; pursue external funding; advise students; and be engaged in service at the departmental, college, University, and professional discipline level. This is an on-campus position and requires regular on-campus presence. The position will start in August 2027. 

The School Psychology Program is NASP-approved and CAEP accredited, and offers an M.S. and Ed.S. degree in school psychology. Classes take place on the main campus of Miami University, located in the scenic college town of Oxford, approximately 45 minutes away from downtown Cincinnati and one hour away from Dayton.   

The program is housed in the Department of Educational Psychology which also includes graduate and undergraduate academic programs of study in Learning Sciences and Human Development, School Psychology, School Counseling, Special Education, Educational Technology, and Instructional Design and Technology.

College of Education, Health and Society (EHS): Founded in 1902, the College of Education, Health, and Society was Miami University’s first professional school and home to Miami’s first graduate of color. CEHS continues to lead the way with the highest percentage of diverse students and faculty across the university.  The College embraces the rich opportunities available for cross-disciplinary collaboration across its six departments (Educational Leadership; Educational Psychology; Family Science and Social Work; Kinesiology, Nutrition, and Health; Sport Leadership and Management; and Teaching, Curriculum, and Educational Inquiry).

 

Minimum Qualifications:

Doctorate in School Psychology or closely related field by date of appointment. Candidates should be eligible for School Psychologist certification from the Ohio Board of Psychology, which includes those who hold the Nationally Certified School Psychology (NCSP) credential. 

Consideration may be given to candidates with expertise in areas such as school-based mental health, psychoeducational assessment (e.g., cognitive), and/or multi-tiered model of service delivery; evidence of strong potential for effective research and teaching; practice in the field as a school psychologist; doctorate from an APA- and/or NASP-approved doctoral training program in School Psychology; and prior teaching experience at the college level, including as teaching assistant.
