Our Legal Team is looking for a Legal Counsel II who will play a key role in supporting our commercial legal, regulatory, governance, and privacy initiatives as we continue to scale across Southeast Asia.

Your Role: Key Accountabilities

• Privacy & Data Protection - Support the Group's privacy and data protection programme across Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, and other jurisdictions where applicable. Advise on data protection laws, cross-border data transfers, data processing arrangements, privacy notices, data sharing agreements, and privacy impact assessments. Support incident response, regulatory engagements, and ongoing privacy governance initiatives. You will be registered as a DPO in relevant countries, where applicable. 
• End-to-End Legal Support for BAU Operations (MY and SG) - Provide day-to-day legal support for business operations across Malaysia andSingapore including drafting and reviewing standard commercial contracts, supporting operational matters, and assisting with regulatory and compliance requirements to ensure business continuity.
• Drafting, Review, Research & Negotiation of Agreements - Draft, review, and support negotiations of a range of legal documentation, including commercial and operational contracts, using approved templates, and identifying non-standard issues for escalation where appropriate.
• Legal Advisory & Stakeholder Support - Provide practical legal support to business teams on operational, commercial, regulatory, compliance, privacy, cybersecurity, licensing, and corporate matters. Partner closely with Product, Engineering, Security, HR, Commercial, and Operations teams to embed privacy-by-design into business initiatives.
• Governance, Risk & Compliance Support - Support internal governance processes, including preparation and review of board materials, related-party transaction documentation, contract approval workflows, and legal checklists. Track developments in privacy, cybersecurity, AI, and technology regulation, assess business impact, and support implementation of appropriate mitigation measures and governance controls.
• Process Improvement & Knowledge Support - Support the implementation and continuous improvement of legal processes, including contract templates, CLM tools, SOPs, and legal trackers. Assist in preparing privacy guidance, legal updates, internal policies, awareness training, playbooks, and practical guidance materials to improve legal and privacy awareness across the organisation.

Requirements

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

• 2:1 Law degree from a recognized university and called to the Bar (Malaysia, Singapore or any equivalent common law jurisdiction).
• 6 -7  years of post-qualification experience, with at least 3 years in private practice, preferably with exposure to technology, privacy, data protection, commercial contracts, regulatory matters, and cross-border business operations.
• Regulatory engagement, data governance, technology businesses, IPO preparation, or large-scale corporate projects will be an advantage.
• Working knowledge of regional privacy and data protection laws (including Malaysia PDPA, Singapore PDPA, and other applicable regulations) with the ability to provide practical, risk-based advice to business stakeholders.
• Strong commercial legal experience, including drafting, reviewing, and negotiating technology, SaaS, data processing, data sharing, and other commercial agreements across multiple jurisdictions.
• Demonstrated ability to thrive in a dynamic, high-growth environment, with comfort operating in ambiguity and managing competing priorities.
• Self-starter with a strong ownership mindset, able to work independently, initiate projects, and drive matters to completion with minimal supervision.
• Proven stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build trust and credibility with senior leaders, business teams, and external advisors across multiple geographies.
• Experience handling fast-moving and high-pressure issues, with sound judgment and the ability to respond pragmatically and decisively.
