Assistant Manager, FP&A CoE 

Grade: GG12  |  Location: Bangalore 

Role purpose: Support the internal FP&A Manager and wider finance team in delivering accurate reporting, planning, forecasting and business performance insights. The role will primarily operate within the team, with occasional interaction with business and finance stakeholders to clarify requirements and communicate analysis. 


Key Responsibilities 

  • Support the FP&A Manager in delivering monthly reporting, forecasting, budgeting and planning activities for the relevant business areas. 
  • Prepare accurate and timely financial analysis, management reports, performance metrics and presentations in line with agreed requirements and timelines. 
  • Analyse actual performance against budget, forecast, prior periods and relevant benchmarks; identify key drivers, trends, risks and opportunities. 
  • Provide clear, evidence-based insights and supporting assumptions to help the Manager and Finance Business Partners understand business performance. 
  • Coordinate with local and global finance colleagues to gather inputs, validate data and resolve reporting or planning queries. 
  • Occasionally engage with business and finance stakeholders to understand information requirements, clarify data points and present analysis, with guidance from the Manager where appropriate. 
  • Support business case and investment-spend reporting, including tracking performance and highlighting material variances or emerging trends. 
  • Maintain and improve reporting tools, templates and processes to enhance accuracy, consistency, control and efficiency. 
  • Identify opportunities to simplify recurring activities and make better use of available analytics, reporting and automation capabilities. 
  • Manage assigned deliverables and competing priorities in an organised manner, escalating risks, dependencies or data-quality issues promptly. 
  • Collaborate effectively with colleagues across locations and time zones, while maintaining appropriate documentation and process controls. 

Key Deliverables 

  • Monthly P&L and management reporting support. 
  • Budgeting, forecasting and planning schedules. 
  • Variance analysis, trend analysis and performance commentary. 
  • Risk and opportunity tracking, supported by meaningful assumptions. 
  • Business case or investment-spend analysis, where applicable. 
  • Finance presentations and ad hoc decision-support analysis. 

Qualifications and Experience 

  • Postgraduate qualification in Finance or Business, such as MBA, CA or ICWA (Inter), or an equivalent relevant qualification. 
  • Approximately 6–7 years of relevant experience in FP&A, management reporting, decision support or business finance. 
  • Hands-on experience with budgeting, forecasting, management reporting and financial analysis. 
  • Experience working with colleagues or stakeholders across functions, locations or time zones. 
  • Certification or practical exposure in data analytics, business intelligence or related tools would be advantageous. 

Required Skills and Capabilities 

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to convert financial data into clear and actionable insights. 
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint; working knowledge of Word and Power BI is desirable. 
  • Experience with planning, reporting or ERP platforms such as Oracle, SAP, Hyperion, Business Objects or other OLAP tools. 
  • Good written and verbal communication skills, with the confidence to explain analysis clearly and concisely. 
  • High attention to detail and a disciplined approach to data accuracy, controls and deadlines. 
  • Ability to work independently on assigned activities while seeking guidance and escalating issues appropriately. 
  • Well organised, collaborative and able to manage multiple priorities systematically. 
  • Curious and improvement-oriented mindset, with an interest in understanding business context, processes and performance drivers. 

Preferred Skills 

  • Exposure to process improvement, reporting automation or workflow simplification. 
  • Understanding of business products, services, customers and key commercial drivers. 
  • Experience combining structured and unstructured information to support business cases or management analysis. 
  • Familiarity with data visualisation, Power BI, VBA or other analytics tools. 

Working Arrangements 

  • Some time-zone overlap with global counterparts may be required, based on business needs.
