Duties and Tasks

Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other related duties may be assigned.

• Maintain clean and safe facilities which include organizing materials/supplies.
• Perform minimal clerical duties.
• May assist faculty/students in a lab/classroom setting.
• Prepare and dismantle lab kitchens and speed racks for experiments.
• Complete pre- and post-lab checklists to ensure readiness and cleanliness.
• Restock and organize lab supplies, including staple items, chemicals, and other materials.
• Assist with inventory management and perform light clerical tasks as needed.
• Identify and report malfunctioning or broken equipment to the Senior Lab Technician.
• Provide support to faculty and students by addressing questions or resolving issues during lab sessions.
• Escalate complex questions or concerns to the Senior Lab Technician or Procurement Coordinator when necessary.

Required Work Experience

• Prior food service industry experience.

Special Requirements

• Hold a valid food handler's certificate or food manager certification and must maintain its validity at all times.

Physical Requirements

• Occasional lifting of objects up to 50 pounds.
• Requires long periods of standing and well as walking

Uniform requirements

• Wear a black long-sleeve chef coat (provided by the department).
• Wear durable pants (denim is acceptable; athletic pants are not allowed).
• Use non-skid shoes for safety.
• Hair must be pulled back when working with food.
• Jewelry is limited to a plain wedding band; permanent facial jewelry must be removed in compliance with the Culinary Arts Code of Conduct.
• Earbuds (corded or wireless) are not permitted while on duty.

Pay rate

$23.00/hour

Up to 19 hours per week

• Option 1: Tuesday–Friday, 7:00 AM–1:00 PM
• Option 2: Monday–Thursday, 2:00 PM–9:00 PM
