The Assistant Cheerleading Coach supports the head coach in all aspects of the college's cheerleading program while helping to foster a positive, inclusive, and student-centered team culture. This role assists with planning and conducting practices, teaching and refining cheerleading skills, stunts, tumbling, game-day routines, and competition preparation, while emphasizing athlete safety, sportsmanship, and personal development. The assistant serves as a positive role model, encouraging academic success, leadership, teamwork, and strong communication among student-athletes.
In addition to on-court responsibilities, the Assistant Cheerleading Coach helps coordinate team operations, including equipment management, travel preparation, recruitment support, and game-day or event logistics as assigned. The position is expected to uphold institutional, conference, and governing body policies while representing the college with professionalism and integrity. Working collaboratively with the head coach, athletic department staff, and campus partners, the assistant contributes to creating a high-quality student-athlete experience and advancing the goals of the cheerleading program.
Duties/Responsibilities
Coaching and Student-Athlete Development (33%)
- Assist the head coach in planning and conducting practices, game-day performances, and competition preparation.
- Teach and develop cheerleading fundamentals, including stunting, tumbling, jumps, motions, choreography, and sideline skills.
- Promote student-athlete safety by ensuring proper technique, spotting, and adherence to safety standards.
- Foster a positive team culture that emphasizes sportsmanship, leadership, academic success, and personal growth.
Program Operations and Administration (33%)
- Assist with organizing practices, travel, equipment, uniforms, and other operational needs of the program.
- Support game-day and event logistics, including performances at athletic contests and campus events.
- Help maintain inventory of equipment and communicate program needs to the head coach.
- Complete administrative tasks as assigned while complying with departmental procedures and institutional policies.
Recruitment, Collaboration, and Program Support (33%)
- Assist with the identification and recruitment of prospective student-athletes in accordance with institutional policies.
- Represent the cheerleading program and athletics department in a professional manner during campus and community events.
- Work collaboratively with athletics staff, campus partners, and other coaches to enhance the student-athlete experience.
- Support the overall mission and goals of the athletics department while adhering to institutional, conference, and applicable governing body rules and regulations.
Requirements
Minimum Acceptable Education & Experience:
- High School diploma

- Communication – Effectively communicates with student-athletes, coaches, officials, and athletic department staff while providing clear instruction, constructive feedback, and encouragement.
- Leadership and Teamwork – Demonstrates a positive attitude, serves as a role model, builds trust with student-athletes, and collaborates effectively with the head coach and colleagues to foster a supportive team environment.
- Organization and Dependability – Maintains a high level of professionalism by being prepared, reliable, punctual, and able to manage multiple responsibilities while supporting practices, events, and team operations.

Compensation Pay Range:
$10 /hour
