Job Description
Position Overview:
This Shared Services role is part of the North America (“NA”) Beverage Rigid Packaging Solutions (“RPS”) Business Group (“BG”) and reports to the BG Controller. The critical responsibilities of this role are as follows:
- Lead NA BG Shared Services financial reporting and accounting functions supporting 3 BG’s by ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting in compliance with US GAAP and Amcor policies
- Manage the accounting, budgeting, and forecasting for Significant Items and Restructuring programs including monthly actual and forecast reporting to corporate
- Execute balance sheet reviews and coordinate monthly tracking of risks and opportunities
- Support the annual strategic and operating plans, monthly forecasting, and actual reporting cycles while ensuring ensure compliance with internal controls and adherence to corporate deadlines
- Streamline processes for establishing, measuring and delivering upon BG financial objectives; deliver information and analysis to support proactive management decision making
- Lead team of 7 direct/indirect reports; provide functional leadership by fostering teamwork, providing coaching and developing team members
- Act as a change agent within RPS finance community identifying and driving best practices
- Assist with special project activities including complex technical accounting matters, M&A activities, business improvement projects, restructuring programs, working capital initiatives, etc.
Essential Responsibilities and Duties:
Financial Reporting & General Accounting:
- Oversee Financial Reporting team including capital accounting team, ensuring proper recording for all costs, depreciation and creation of fixed assets; tooling and dunnage amortization, and financial planning and analysis for the shared services group
- Oversee General Ledger Accounting team including journal entries preparation and account reconciliation processes supporting approximately 23 locations
- Review and Approve Journal Entries and Account Reconciliations while ensuring integrity and accuracy of financial results
- Manage preparation and validation of management reports and presentation materials for monthly / quarterly reporting, Quarterly Business Reviews (QBR’s), Supplemental Reports (SPR’s), Quality of Earnings, Strategic Risk Assessments and similar
- Partner with BU management and other stakeholders to meet their information needs and accomplish reporting objectives
- Support the development and execution of the BG requirements relating to the annual budget and strategic plan processes as well as monthly forecast
- Lead and continuously improve the monthly closing, consolidation and reporting cycle
- Develop and deliver management financial and operational performance reporting
- Oversee the administration of the SAP-BPC Financial Consolidation system used for the company’s monthly reporting, operating plan and strategic plan.
- Coordinate with Amcor Group Tax on Completion of ARP BG consolidated tax reporting requirements
- Collaborate with Corporate on technical accounting matters to obtain alignment on technical accounting conclusions as necessary
Financial Management:
- Drive outperformance planning, financial initiatives and best practice implementation across BU’s and functions
- Ensure all aspects of sound fiscal management of the BG operations, incorporating treasury and cash flow management and financial planning
- Identify and drive best practices, promoting the implementation of new requirements and process improvements
- Benchmark financial metrics and identify opportunities to improve performance.
- Support the implementation of new business processes, systems, policies, and procedures.
Internal Controls and Compliance:
- Oversee direct/indirect team internal controls / SOX processes and compliance activities
- Ensure compliance with the policies and procedures of ARP BG, Amcor, US GAAP and applicable local statutory/regulatory requirements.
- Support the design, implementation and continuous enhancement of internal control processes
- Support external audit engagement review and related activities related to Amcor’s quarterly reporting periods and statutory close requirements
- Communicate key compliance findings and recommendations to the BG Controller and relevant stakeholders.
Team Leadership & Talent Development:
- Lead, manage and develop team of accounting and reporting professionals team members
- Attract, retain, engage, motivate and develop bench strength within the team to enable internal promotion and transfer as opportunities arise
Qualifications:
Education:
- Minimum undergraduate degree in Accounting or Finance
- Professional accreditation preferred (CPA, CA or similar)
Experience:
- 10 years of accounting and reporting experience in an international environment; experience; experience with SEC reporting and manufacturing strongly preferred
- Experience leading and managing a team of direct and indirect professionals
- Strong technical knowledge of US GAAP accounting and tax; ability to effectively communicate complex matters to non-technical audience
- Strong interpersonal and decision-making skills
- Fluency in English (written and spoken)
- Effective communicator at all levels with strong oral, written & influencing skills
