About the Role
The Salvation Army Housing is committed to changing lives by providing safe, affordable housing for people experiencing vulnerability in our communities. We are seeking a highly organised and detail-oriented Asset Services Officer to support the management, maintenance and performance of housing assets across South Australia and Western Australia.
Reporting to the State Manager, you will coordinate property maintenance, refurbishment and asset upgrades, and provide technical advice to support the delivery of safe, compliant and sustainable housing outcomes for vulnerable community members.
The role is initial 12 month contract full-time position based in Ingle Farm.
Key responsibilities:
- Manage the maintenance and operational performance of a diverse housing portfolio across SA and WA.
- Coordinate and oversee property maintenance, refurbishment and asset improvement projects, ensuring works are delivered on time, within budget and to required standards.
- Monitor and maintain asset compliance, safety and property standards in line with legislative and organisational requirements.
- Provide expert advice on asset management, maintenance planning, procurement and contract management matters.
- Procure, engage and manage contractors and suppliers, including assessing quotations, monitoring performance and ensuring compliance.
- Track and monitor asset expenditure, contributing to effective budget management and long-term asset planning.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders, contractors and external partners to support responsive service delivery.
- Prepare and analyse asset performance reports, providing insights and recommendations to support informed decision-making and continuous improvement.
About You
You are a proactive property or asset management professional with experience coordinating maintenance works, managing contractors and delivering quality outcomes across a property portfolio. You thrive in a fast-paced environment and will bring a practical, solutions-focused approach to asset management. To be successful in this role, you will have:
Key capabilities:
- Relevant qualifications in Property, Building, Asset Management, Project Management or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Experience managing property, housing or facilities portfolios and coordinating maintenance and asset improvement works.
- Strong contractor, procurement and budget management skills.
- Proven ability to build effective stakeholder relationships and manage competing priorities.
- Strong analytical, communication and organisational skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and property or asset management systems.
- Knowledge of social or community housing and asset lifecycle planning is highly regarded.
Requirements of the role:
- A current and valid SA Working with Children Check is required.
- A current SA Drivers licence.
- Ability to undertake interstate travel when required.
