Art and Design Technology Teacher
Smart Vision School, Dubai
Smart Vision School is seeking an enthusiastic, creative and ambitious Art and Design Technology Teacher to join our growing school community. This is an exciting opportunity for a teacher who is passionate about creative education and would enjoy working across both Primary and Secondary as we continue to develop and expand our curriculum.
The successful candidate will teach Art across Primary, Design Technology within Key Stage 2 and Art and Design Technology across Key Stage 3, with the opportunity to play a significant role in shaping our future GCSE provision.
We welcome applications from teachers with any Design Technology specialism, including Product Design, Resistant Materials, Food Technology, Textiles, Graphics or other relevant disciplines. We are particularly interested in candidates who can bring creativity, flexibility and practical expertise to a growing department.

Smart Vision School is a growing British Curriculum school in Dubai, currently educating students from FS1 to Year 9. As the school continues to grow, we are developing our Secondary provision with plans to introduce GCSE courses from Year 10 and further expand our curriculum in the years ahead.

The Role
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to contribute to the development of Art and Design Technology across the school. The role will include:
- Delivering engaging and high-quality Art lessons across Primary
- Teaching Design Technology within Key Stage 2, which may include Food Technology, Product Design or another appropriate DT specialism
- Teaching Art and Design Technology across Key Stage 3
- Contributing to the development of curriculum maps, schemes of learning and assessment approaches across Art and DT
- Supporting the development of specialist Art and Design Technology spaces, resources and equipment
- Helping to establish an ambitious and accessible pathway towards GCSE Art and/or Design Technology
- Creating opportunities for students to design, make, evaluate and solve authentic problems through practical learning
- Promoting creativity, independence, craftsmanship and high-quality outcomes
- Using technology effectively to enhance designing, creating and learning
- Ensuring practical activities are delivered safely and that appropriate risk assessments, routines and procedures are followed
- Contributing to displays, exhibitions, competitions, enrichment activities and wider school events
- Supporting extracurricular opportunities within Art, Design and Technology
- Working collaboratively with Primary and Secondary colleagues to develop progression in creative and practical learning across the school
- Contributing positively to the wider life, culture and continued development of Smart Vision School
The Successful Candidate
We are looking for a teacher who:
- Holds a recognised teaching qualification such as PGCE, PGDE, B.Ed or equivalent
- Has a relevant degree or strong subject background in Art, Design Technology or a related discipline
- Has experience teaching Art and/or Design Technology within a British Curriculum school or similar educational setting
- Is confident working with students across different age ranges
- Has a strong understanding of practical classroom management, health and safety and the safe use of specialist equipment
- Can demonstrate strong subject knowledge within their area of DT specialism
- Is willing and able to contribute across both Art and Design Technology
- Understands how knowledge, skills and creativity should progressively develop from Primary into Secondary
- Has high expectations for the quality and presentation of students' practical work
- Is enthusiastic about helping to develop future GCSE provision
- Builds positive relationships with students, colleagues and parents
- Is reflective, collaborative and committed to professional development
- Shares our commitment to inclusive education and ensuring every student has the opportunity to succeed
Experience teaching GCSE Art and/or Design Technology would be an advantage, although applications are welcomed from strong teachers who are excited by the opportunity to help develop this provision as the school grows.
