A Day in the Life

This role supports laboratory operations through the maintenance, calibration, qualification, and troubleshooting of analytical instrumentation used in regulated testing environments. The team is responsible for ensuring laboratory equipment performs accurately and reliably while supporting compliance with Good Laboratory Practices (GLP), Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), and internal quality requirements. Responsibilities include preventive maintenance, calibration management, instrumentation documentation, vendor coordination, and continuous improvement of equipment processes and procedures.

This position is located at the Rice Creek Campus in Fridley, Minnesota and is an onsite role requiring regular presence within the laboratory environment. No travel is required.

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned:

• Perform routine calibration, preventive maintenance, and requalification activities on laboratory instrumentation in accordance with approved procedures.
• Assist with troubleshooting instrumentation issues and escalate more complex concerns as needed.
• Maintain accurate calibration, maintenance, and training documentation, including equipment binders and associated records.
• Support updates to Instrument Operating Procedures (IOPs) and other equipment-related documentation as directed.
• Communicate unusual calibration results or equipment issues to laboratory leadership and support follow-up actions.
• Assist with Change Controls, Deviations, and Non-Conformances as needed.
• Coordinate with external service providers and vendors to support calibration and maintenance activities.
• Support equipment evaluation, installation, and implementation activities, including replacement parts and related materials.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Biology, Engineering, Life Sciences, or a related technical discipline with 0+ years of relevant laboratory, instrumentation, quality, or regulated industry experience.
• Experience following written procedures and maintaining accurate technical documentation.
• Ability to perform routine instrument calibration, maintenance, or laboratory support activities with attention to detail and quality requirements.
• Basic understanding of laboratory instrumentation and equipment troubleshooting principles.
• Ability to work onsite at the Rice Creek Campus in Fridley, Minnesota.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience working in a Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP), Good Laboratory Practice (GLP), or other regulated laboratory environment.
• Experience supporting analytical laboratory instrumentation, calibration programs, or basic equipment qualification activities.
• Experience following detailed written procedures and maintaining accurate technical documentation.
• Experience supporting equipment troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, or calibration activities.
• Experience coordinating or interfacing with vendors, service providers, or internal support teams.
• Familiarity with laboratory data systems, equipment records, or document control systems.
• Working knowledge of SAP or other enterprise systems used for work orders, asset tracking, or maintenance documentation.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills with a willingness to learn and grow in a technical environment.
• Exposure to analytical instrumentation such as HPLC, GC, balances, chambers, water systems, or similar equipment.

For Baccalaureate degrees earned outside of the United States, a degree that satisfies the requirements of 8 C.F.R. § 214.2(h)(4)(iii)(A) is required.

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):$68,000.00 - $102,000.00

 

This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).

The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).

The following benefits and additional compensation are available to those regular employees who work 20+ hours per week: Health, Dental and vision insurance, Health Savings Account, Healthcare Flexible Spending Account, Life insurance, Long-term disability leave, Dependent daycare spending account, Tuition assistance/reimbursement, and Simple Steps (global well-being program).
