Description of Work

You must apply by 11:59 PM prior to the posted closing date.The NCDOT Office of Economic Opportunity and Compliance (EOC) exists to promote economic opportunity, growth and engagement in communities across N.C. to ensure stakeholders have access and opportunity to participate in transportation programs. EOC is responsible for advocating, administering, implementing, and monitoring the Department’s Title VI Nondiscrimination Program, Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE)program, Unified Certification Program, Small Business Program, Equal Opportunity Contractor Compliance Program, Americans with Disabilities Act Program, On-the-Job Training (OJT) Program, and University Collaborations/ HBCU Outreach.
The Administrative Officer I provides critical operational, administrative, and programming support directly to the Senior Director of Economic Opportunity and Compliance. This role ensures seamless execution of day-to-day operations across all compliance and business development initiatives. This support includes report writing, data verification, information summarization and reconciliation, records management, data collection and analysis, research, inventory and expenditure tracking. Provides primary support administration to the Senior Director of EOC for statewide program initiatives, daily operations, special projects, and operational reporting. Communicates professionally and effectively with staff, leadership, external agencies, and the public across written, telephone, and in-person settings. Responsible for scheduling meetings, coordinating executive travel, managing calendars, capturing detailed meeting minutes, overseeing meeting logistics, and preparing briefing materials and executive summaries.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences
Salary Grade and Salary Range: NC11 $45,431 - $79,504
Management prefers applicants with the following:
- Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with Director or higher-level management level, public individuals, staff and other members of the organization.
- Working knowledge of the principles and practices of business administration as it applies to government programs.
- Documented experience in exercising judgement and discretion in application of policy and procedures.
- Demonstrated ability to explain and interpret program information to clients/customers and staff.
Minimum Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree from an appropriately accredited institution and one year of experience in HR, budgeting, research or administrative management; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
