About the Role

The department is seeking applications from enthusiastic suitably qualified and experienced administration professionals to provide effective operational administration support which is flexible and responsive to the needs of the department.

The applicant will need to have a high-level range of administrative skills; excellent computer literacy, and possess a self-driven approach to managing tasks and refining processes. 

The position reports to the Director of Anaesthesia and their Deputy Directors and will work closely and cooperatively with the Administration Officers of the other Critical Care departments.

• Providing comprehensive reception services and administrative assistance to support the clinical and management functions of the team

• Assisting the Director and Deputy Directors with their daily administrative duties as required

• Managing rostering processes in consultation with the relevant senior staff including publication and distribution weekly and updating and notification of changes

• Assisting with the co-ordination of meetings and other events, including management of venue hire, advertising, registration and fees, and catering where required.

Your Contribution

• Demonstrated experience in an Administration Officer role with the provision of administrative support to a diverse work group in a health and/or university setting

• Proven ability to work independently with a demonstrated ability to be self-directed with workflow planning and management

• It is a requirement that the role is performed onsite in the Dept. of Anaesthesia.

• Year 12 or equivalent literacy and numeracy

• Medical terminology (desirable)

• Current National criminal history check, or willing to obtain

• Current National criminal history check, or willing to obtain/ Current NDIS Worker Screening Check, or willing to obtain (Select which is applicable)

About the Department:

The Department of Anaesthesia and Acute Pain Medicine (the Department) is part of St. Vincent’s Hospital Melbourne and is affiliated with the Department of Critical Care Medicine of The University of Melbourne.  It provides world class training in anaesthesia, combined with leading clinical care, and an active research program. The Department of Anaesthesia has over 80 medical staff including full time and visiting consultant anaesthetists, anaesthetic trainees and rotating junior doctors. In addition we have 2 pain nurses, 7 research staff, and 2 biomedical technicians.
