Opportunity
Brunswick is looking for an Account Director to join our Johannesburg office, advising leading African and global organisations on complex financial, corporate and reputational issues.
Our Account Directors combine developing strategic insight, strong execution and sound judgement to help clients navigate critical business moments. They support effective and collaborative account teams through guiding Executive and interns in their roles. A successful Account Director helps manage key client workstreams, develops high-quality advice and communications and builds trusted relationships across stakeholder groupings including business, financial, advisory and media communities.
About The Role
- Contribute to new business, pitches and collaborating with colleagues across the firm.
- Develop high-quality client materials, including press releases, Q&As, briefing documents and stakeholder communications.
- Deliver strategic advice, research and stakeholder analysis, translating complex issues into clear recommendations.
- Manage multiple client workstreams, ensuring high-quality delivery, strong project management and attention to detail.
- Manage media and financial stakeholder engagement, informed by a strong understanding of the business, investor and media landscape.
- Advise clients across financial and corporate communications, including financial results, M&A, transactions, capital markets activity, corporate positioning and crisis situations.
- Build trusted client relationships and develop the confidence to advise senior executives and key stakeholders.
What We're Looking For
- 3–6 years of relevant experience in strategic or financial communications, corporate affairs, advisory or consulting.
- A strong understanding of business, finance, markets and current affairs, and how these intersect with corporate reputation and stakeholder expectations.
- Excellent written, verbal, research and analytical skills, with the ability to simplify complex information and develop clear, thoughtful advice.
- Strong knowledge of the South African business, financial and media landscape, combined with an interest in regional dynamics and a global outlook.
- Proven project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple fast-moving priorities while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
- High EQ, commercial judgement and strong interpersonal skills.
- An intellectually curious, proactive and collaborative approach, with a commitment to exceptional client service and working effectively across teams, sectors and geographies.
