Sobre este puesto de 3PL Manager en Skylight
Skylight is a technology startup building the OS of the family. We make Skylight Calendar, the smart calendar loved by millions of families (plus Wired and Wirecutter). About the Role:
The 3PL Manager will own our relationships with every third-party warehouse we use, in the US and internationally. You will be responsible for how well each warehouse performs for retail, direct-to-consumer, and wholesale orders: accuracy, speed, cost, and inventory you can trust. You will run the weekly and monthly reviews, hold each partner to its contract, and be the person who knows the real numbers before anyone asks. When we open a new site, move inventory between sites, or run an RFP, you lead it.
This is a hands-on role at a small, fast team. You will build the scorecards, reconciliations, and SOPs yourself. The ideal candidate is analytical, direct with partners, comfortable with a contract, and likes fixing things at the root.
Responsibilities:
- Own the day-to-day and strategic relationship with each 3PL partner, including weekly operating reviews, monthly business reviews, and a clear escalation path.
- Build and run a 3PL scorecard: ship-same-day %, order cycle time, dock-to-stock time, inventory accuracy, damage and shrink, error rates that lead to retailer chargebacks, and cost per order and per unit.
- Hold partners to their contracts: SLAs, KPIs, liability terms, and rate cards. Manage amendments and renewals with Finance and Legal.
- Audit 3PL invoices against the rate card and contract each month. Own claims and credits for lost, damaged, and missing inventory and for missed SLAs.
- Own inventory accuracy between each 3PL’s WMS and NetSuite: cycle counts, location-level reconciliations, and adjustments with Accounting.
- Lead new site onboarding and transitions between sites: cutover plans, inventory transfers, system and EDI integration, SOPs, and go-live readiness.
- Run 3PL RFPs end to end: scope, bid analysis, site visits, and total-cost modeling.
- Own our international 3PL network and work with forwarders and customs brokers on inbound flows.
- Own value-added service programs at the warehouses (relabeling, kitting, sleeving, repack, rework) including SOPs, pricing, and quality checks.
- Run capacity and peak planning with each partner: space, labor, forecast sharing, and holiday cutoffs.
- Work with the Retail Logistics team on retailer requirements (labels, routing guides, appointments) so the warehouse can execute them.
- Work with Planning and Purchasing on inbound receipts, dock appointments, and PO-to-receipt lag.
- Lead continuous improvement across the 3PL network.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or related field
- 5+ years of experience in warehouse, fulfillment, or supply chain operations, with 3+ years managing 3PL vendor relationships
- Demonstrated experience managing multi-site 3PL performance with scorecards and business reviews
- Experience reading and enforcing a 3PL agreement: SLAs, rate cards, liability, shrink, and insurance terms
- Experience reconciling WMS inventory to an ERP
- Experience auditing 3PL invoices and recovering overbilling or claims
- Proficiency as a user of warehouse management systems
- Advanced analytical skills (Google Sheets required, SQL a plus) and clear written communication
Bonus Points for:
- Experience standing up a new 3PL site or exiting an old one
- Experience with international 3PLs, cross-border flows, and customs brokers
- Experience with NetSuite (SuiteQL a big plus)
- Experience running a 3PL RFP and building a total-cost model
- Experience with retail compliance (Target, Best Buy, Costco, Walmart, Sam’s Club)
- Experience with e-commerce parcel fulfillment and consumer electronics
- MBA or MS in Supply Chain Management or related field
- Six Sigma certification or similar process improvement qualifications
