Northrop Grumman is seeking a Technical Writer for an internship opportunity. This position will be located at our Mission Systems sector in Cape Canaveral, FL.

The qualified candidate will become part of Northrop Grumman’s Marine Systems Business Unit.

Roles and Responsibilities

• Writing, rewriting, and/or editing technical documents such as technical procedure manuals, user manuals, programming manuals, service manuals, operational specifications, and related technical publications for our Naval customers

• Developing technical documents by collaborating with engineering teams, product developers, observing performance of production methods, referring to technical specifications, blueprints, engineering illustrations, and trade journals

• Preparing illustrative materials, selecting drawings, sketches, diagrams and charts

Basic Qualifications

A candidate must meet ALL of the below criteria. The candidate must:

• Be a student who is enrolled full-time and pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree from an accredited college/university and will be enrolled full time in Fall 2027

• Be majoring in Technical Writing, English

• Be available to work full-time (40 hours per week) for at least 10 weeks during summer 2027.
• Be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance (U.S. citizenship is a pre-requisite) as well as Program Special access within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business needs (U.S. citizenship is a pre-requisite)

Preferred Qualifications: 

• Have an overall cumulative GPA of 3.00/4.0 or higher

• U.S. Navy Experience or other military experience
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat
• Hands on experience working with large machinery, marine machinery is a plus
• Active U.S. Secret security clearance

Intern Pay Range:

Bachelor’s: $20.50 to $37.25 per hour

Master’s: $29.00 to $45.50 per hour

At Northrop Grumman, our internship pay rates are standardized and take into account three main factors: the anticipated graduation date of the individual, the cost of labor of the geographic location, and whether the internship is considered technical or administrative.

Primary Level Salary Range: $1.00 - $1.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
