About this Staff Product Designer role at Air Tek

Air Tek · Hybrid · Toronto

About Us

Air-tek is a Canadian software company building a powerful suite of products for the global travel industry. Our products have achieved strong market traction, proven product-market fit, and growing demand from customers worldwide. While our customers know us well, we intentionally operate in stealth mode during this phase of growth.

Based in Toronto, our diverse team is united by a passion for solving complex problems and creating more passenger-centric travel experiences. Our culture is grounded in trust, collaboration, continuous learning, and a shared commitment to delivering exceptional products.

The Role

As a Staff Product Designer, you will lead the design of complex, high-impact product experiences across enterprise platforms, administrative workflows, and consumer-facing travel products. You will operate as a strategic design leader—shaping product direction, raising the quality bar, scaling our design system, and mentoring fellow designers.

You will partner closely with Product Management, Engineering, and business stakeholders to turn ambiguous, complex problems into intuitive, scalable, and accessible experiences.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead end-to-end design for complex enterprise, administrative, and consumer-facing product experiences.
  • Translate product strategy, customer needs, and business goals into clear experience visions, user flows, and high-quality UI.
  • Drive the design of new products and major product capabilities from early discovery through launch and iteration.
  • Simplify complex workflows, information architecture, and systems into intuitive, efficient user experiences.
  • Lead and facilitate discovery, ideation, design critiques, workshops, and stakeholder alignment sessions.
  • Create and communicate sketches, wireframes, prototypes, screen flows, interaction specifications, and polished presentations.
  • Own and evolve scalable design-system practices, including Figma component libraries, digital asset management, atomic design principles, and design governance.
  • Establish and improve design processes that increase product delivery velocity, quality, and consistency.
  • Partner closely with engineers to ensure design intent is implemented accurately and to identify practical, high-quality solutions.
  • Advocate for the user throughout the product lifecycle, incorporating research, usability insights, analytics, and customer feedback.
  • Provide design leadership and mentorship to other designers, helping raise the team’s craft, strategic thinking, and collaboration practices.
  • Contribute to innovative product concepts, prototypes, and customer or prospect presentations that support the company roadmap.

Qualifications

  • 8+ years of experience in software product design, UX/UI design, or a related discipline.
  • Demonstrated experience leading complex product design work from discovery through delivery.
  • Experience designing both enterprise/B2B software and consumer-facing digital products.
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating exceptional interaction design, visual design, systems thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Advanced proficiency in Figma, including building and maintaining scalable component libraries and design systems.
  • Strong understanding of user-centered design, UX research, information architecture, interaction design, and accessibility principles.
  • Experience influencing product strategy and aligning cross-functional stakeholders around a shared design direction.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and visual communication skills.
  • Comfortable working independently in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment while managing multiple priorities.
  • A collaborative, proactive, and ownership-driven mindset, with experience working in Agile product teams.
  • A desire to continually learn, share knowledge, and help develop a strong design culture.

Nice to Have

  • Experience working in a startup, scale-up, or high-growth product organization.
  • Experience designing complex enterprise platforms, workflow-heavy applications, or operational tools.
  • Experience designing accessible digital experiences, including familiarity with WCAG standards.
  • Familiarity with the airline, aviation, travel, or passenger-services ecosystem.
  • Experience using research, analytics, and customer feedback to inform product decisions.
  • Active participation in Toronto’s product-design community.
