Rakuten Symphony's Cloud Business Unit provides a highly scalable Kubernetes-based platform that offers secure distributed storage, networking, and compute capabilities for next-generation applications. Our business is diverse and rapidly growing across Telecommunication, Enterprise, and Retail Customers in the Far East, EMEA, and Americas. Our engineering team is diverse, spanning the US, Dubai, Singapore, Japan, and Korea.

We are actively seeking to grow our team in Japan and are looking for systems engineers and QA professionals from within and outside Japan to take our platform to the next level. The SQA team, consisting of 30 members spread across the USA and India (Pune & Bengaluru), is responsible for ensuring the quality of our Cloud products. This team works in a dynamic environment, collaborating closely with various functions. Our team members bring diverse experiences from leading companies such as Veritas, NetApp, Violin Memory, Nutanix, Microsoft, and VMware. We are particularly focused on validating Rakuten Cloud products for Enterprise customers in the Japanese market.

Job Duties

We are seeking a proactive Senior QA Engineer to ensure the high quality of Rakuten Cloud products for Enterprise customers, especially in the Japanese language. You will work closely with Product Management and Development to thoroughly test new features and functionalities, identify and reproduce bugs, and contribute to delivering a high-quality data product in Japanese. This role is crucial for validating our Cloud product in the Japanese market.

Key Responsibilities:

• Feature Testing & Bug Reproduction: Work closely with Product Management & Development to test new features and functionality as they are developed; reproduce bugs and other issues to uncover problems and/or defects before releases.

• Test Case Development & Execution: Write and execute Telco, Networking, and/or data-centric test cases in both Japanese and English.

• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver a high-quality data product in Japanese.

• Test Environment Management: Maintain a robust, production-proof test environment in Japan.

• Defect Troubleshooting: Troubleshoot critical software defects in Japanese.

• Advanced Test Design: Design and develop Integration, Performance, Scalability, and Stress tests using industry-standard tools.

Minimum Qualifications

• Experience: 5+ years of automation testing experience, with a strong focus on backend testing and data.

• Education: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.

• Testing Skills:

  • Strong Robot Framework skills (for UI automation) in Japanese.

  • Good experience with black box/white box testing.

  • Experience writing clear and concise bug reports, test plans, and test cases.

• Technical Knowledge:

  • Good working knowledge of Unix systems and strong shell scripting.

• Soft Skills:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Self-motivated, hardworking with a "can-do" attitude, and eager to succeed in a startup environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Database/Application knowledge.

• Exposure to Docker, Kubernetes, 4G/5G Technology, and micro-services.

• Familiarity with Japanese language, Python, and Git.
