Senior IT Systems Administrator

Role: Full-time, on-site (5 days/week)

Location: Etobicoke, Ontario (Airport area)

Comp: $90,000-$120,000 base + bonus + benefits

About Us

A profitable, privately owned, growing B2B company in the industrial space. Proudly Canadian and entrepreneurial, serving business customers across North America.

With under 100 employees and a small, hands-on IT function, we're scaling while keeping a practical, no-politics, get-it-done culture.

How We Work

Technology should make the business run better, not just keep the lights on.

This role reports to the IT Director. It's a lead-level role with no direct reports, with occasional travel between our Ontario sites.

Here's how your time will generally split (actual time will vary weekly):

  • Business Applications & ERP Support (about 40%): Tier 2/3 support for our ERP and CRM, maintaining an internal quote-generation system that pulls from ERP data. Planning upgrades/testing. Key tech: Epicor Prophet 21, Salesforce, SQL, Fivetran / Azure Data Factory

  • Infrastructure and Networking (25%): Ensuring that switches, wireless, VPN, servers, and backups are healthy across our sites. Key tech: Ubiquiti UniFi, virtualization, backup platforms

  • Microsoft 365 and Cloud (20%): Running the tenant, access and compliance policies, user onboarding/offboarding and device management, plus SaaS licences and renewals. Key tech: Microsoft 365 (Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint, Intune, Entra ID), Azure

  • Security and Voice (15%): Triaging security alerts, tuning policies against Secure Score, and running the phone system end to end. Key tech: Microsoft Defender, Teams Phone (Direct Routing, call queues, E911)

Note: We're planning to onboard an external MSP this year for first-response support and after-hours monitoring; you'll be the internal technical lead and escalation point.

IT projects are a key part of the role: leading upgrades end to end, guiding software and vendor decisions, and helping the business adopt AI tools safely.

About You

You're a Senior IT Generalist with deep roots in systems administration, equally comfortable in an ERP workflow, a network dashboard, and a Microsoft 365 tenant.

You take ownership of outcomes rather than waiting for direction. You document what you build, explain trade-offs in plain language, and the business trusts your judgment on technology.

You Bring:

  • Strong experience administering Microsoft 365 (Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint, Intune, Entra ID), including Conditional Access, DLP, and sensitivity labels

  • Hands-on ERP administration: users, roles, module setup, master data, upgrades, and UAT (Epicor Prophet 21 or similar)

  • Experience managing networks end to end (VLANs, switching, wireless, routing, VPN, DNS/DHCP), plus servers, virtualization, and tested backup and recovery

  • Security operations experience: triaging Defender alerts, tuning identity and endpoint policies against Secure Score, and supporting audits

  • Experience administering Microsoft Teams Phone (Direct Routing/SBC, call queues, auto attendants, E911)

  • Track record leading IT projects and system upgrades from planning through rollout

  • Experience managing vendors and an MSP relationship: escalations, SLAs, SaaS licences and renewals, and software purchase recommendations

  • Practical experience rolling out or governing AI tools (such as Microsoft Copilot) with the right data and access controls

Qualifications:

  • 8+ years in IT systems administration or infrastructure roles (Senior level)

  • Post-secondary diploma or degree in IT, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent hands-on experience

  • Scripting and automation experience (PowerShell, Microsoft Graph)

  • Comfort writing SQL queries against business databases

  • Strong documentation habits: runbooks, integration maps, change logs, and diagrams

Bonus Points:

  • Experience using AI and automation to take repetitive IT work off the plate, such as user provisioning, ticket triage, and system monitoring and alerts

  • Salesforce administration experience

  • Experience with Ubiquiti UniFi networking

  • Azure governance and cost management, or pipeline tooling (Fivetran, Azure Data Factory)

  • Experience in distribution, manufacturing, or multi-site operations

  • Certifications such as MS-102, AZ-104, CCNA, or Security+

Perks:

  • This role includes Health and Dental benefits + an Annual Bonus Plan

Equal opportunity employer. This posting is for an existing vacancy, and interviewed candidates will hear back within 45 days.
