About the Role

The Hardware Electronics Manger role involves specification, design, and test of the electronic circuits for new and innovative consumer appliance products within Dyson’s Haircare category. You will work in multi-disciplinary worldwide project teams to define the architect and deliver the electronics for Beauty appliance products. You will also collaborate with Dyson's Research in Singapore /UK and New Product Innovation teams to study and build novel electronics to support and realize new product concepts, as well as product life cycle. The position demands a highly driven, creative, methodical, and flexible individual who is eager to tackle issues with a pragmatic approach. You will supervise and mentor a team of Electronics Engineers in development projects.

Accountabilities

  • Lead and manage the Beauty category's electronics team, which is in responsible for gathering electronics requirements, circuit design, sensor system development, and the integration of all hardware solutions within the project deadlines.
  • Responsible for ensuring that hardware team deliverables are of high maturity to satisfy project objectives, be on schedule, and on budget for PCBA and other hardware modules or sub-assemblies.
  • Lead technical reviews, technical risk analysis, and investigations to proactively solve complex issues.
  • Ensure that design solutions meet product specifications and functional requirements (performance, reliability, DFM, cost, and adherence to international regulatory standards such as IEC, UL, and EMC).
  • Liaise and collaborate with multiple Dyson engineering departments (Mechanical, Compliance, Software, Manufacturing, Test, and so on) throughout the UK and Southeast Asia to ensure product and system requirements are met, and to drive product development through to production.
  • Responsible for driving successful collaboration with ODM and JDM partners to ensure timely delivery of reliable electronics solutions and resilient product designs.
  • Actively identify capability gaps and areas for continual improvement in process, cost, time to market, safety, and reliability.
  • Responsible for the professional growth of all members of their team through coaching, mentoring, and regular career discussions with personnel about their career aspirations and development targets.
  • Responsible for clearly communicating project status, risks, and priorities to important cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently, as well as having solid communication skills, ensures that difficulties are discussed openly and maturely, and that a consistent, collaborative approach is used to all aspects of product integration.

Skills

  • A master's or bachelor's degree in electrical/electronics or a related field, as well as experience working in an RDD environment, is required.
  • At least 8 years of technical work experience, with a track record of successfully leading and managing multiple projects throughout the product development cycle, from initial concept to mass production and product sustainability.
  • Design knowledge and experience in major aspect of electronics: power electronics, motor drive, battery management, analogue, digital, sensing and hardware integration.
  • Knowledge of regulatory standards such as IEC60335, IEC61000, UL1017, and UL2595, as well as experience in identifying the root cause and resolving product safety, EMC/ESD issues.
  • Good working knowledge of schematic capture, as well as experience with PCB layout, signal integrity, and thermal modelling.
  • Experience in using simulation tools for design calculations, tolerance analysis, and documentation.
  • Knowledge in DFM, DFX, and DFMEA.
  • Strong analytical skills, as well as the ability to deliver high-quality results independently within tight project deadlines.
  • Highly motivated and self-driven, with excellent communication skills.
