Recreation & Fitness Coordinator – Merrimack, NH | Full-Time (40 hours/week)

HealthFitness is hiring a Fitness Program Coordinator in Merrimack, NH—an opportunity to blend program creativity, hands-on fitness support, and engagement in a dynamic, participant-focused environment. Schedule
🕒 Monday–Friday, 11:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m.
🔄 Occasional shift flexibility (e.g., 6:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.)
✅ No weekends

Responsible for the development, planning, coordination, marketing and/or implementation of designated recreation, health and fitness programs and events, maximizing participation, outcomes and customer satisfaction. May also participate in program delivery and perform other staff responsibilities such as instructing group exercise classes; personal training; conducting fitness tests, exercise prescriptions, and orientations; and fitness floor coverage and facility oversight.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Oversees all programming within recreation; develops, coordinates, manages, implements, and evaluates programs within specified program areas to maximize participation, outcomes and customer satisfaction and supervision of programs, services, and staff. Ensures staff is properly trained and certified.
  • Facilitates the close alignment of programs with the client’s business needs, employee culture and corporate health strategies. Coordinates marketing of programs to maximize outreach and engagement; develops and distributes electronic and print promotional materials to communicate program offerings and special events.
  • Gathers program outcomes data and measures results; evaluates and reports on program effectiveness in meeting objectives and makes recommendations for future program enhancements or modifications.
  • Researches health & fitness educational topics within their specified areas and identifies appropriate participant educational materials.
  • Participates in business planning and budgeting process relating to program and service offerings in their area of expertise.
  • Provides individual and group exercise instruction as applicable; educates participants on proper techniques to maximize exercise safety and effectiveness.
  • Promotes recreation and other fitness program offerings and conducts outreach activities to increase participation including designing flyers and posters for recreation league.  Creates and maintains league and tournament brackets.
  • Supervises recreation program and fitness facilities; interacts with participants and monitors equipment and participate safety.
  • Performs recreation maintenance responsibilities; ensure playing facilities and equipment are functional and always stocked.
  • Other duties as needed/assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Exercise Science, Sports Management or other fitness related discipline required or an equivalent combination of education, certifications and experience.
  • Current First Aid and CPR/AED certifications required from American Heart Association, American Red Cross, National Safety Council or American Safety & Health Institute. Note: certification must have an in-person component and not 100% online/OSHA compliant.
  • Industry recognized Group Exercise certification from ACE, AFAA/NASM, ACSM, NCCPT or NETA or other specialty certification; if not current, will be required within 3 months if hire.
  • NCCA Accredited Personal Trainer certification from an Industry recognized and HealthFitness approved agency; if not current, will be required within 1 year of hire.
  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Experience in running leagues and creating tournament brackets required.
  • Ability to maintain a flexible schedule to meet program needs.
  • Strong interpersonal communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to effectively organize and prioritize work demands.
  • Ability to work effectively independently and as part of a team.

Applicants must meet hiring requirements including but not limited to pre-employment drug test. The compensation range for this role is $19.00 - $22.50/hour. Additional commission opportunities for someone with an industry recognized and HealthFitness approved Personal Trainer certification. The final wage offer will be determined based on factors such as location, qualifications, experience, skill set, and other relevant factors.  We understand that compensation is an important factor when considering a new opportunity, and we strive to provide a competitive wage within the market.
