Secondment/Contract: Up to 2 years

We're seeking a strategic and technically strong Financial Analyst to join our Reporting & Analysis team. This role offers a unique opportunity to apply deep International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) expertise to complex accounting matters, external financial reporting, and accounting policy development. If you enjoy acting as an internal accounting advisor, providing IFRS advisory services to business partners, assessing the accounting implications of significant transactions and emerging business initiatives, developing accounting policies, and preparing technical accounting memoranda and position papers, we want to hear from you.

Reporting to the Director, Reporting & Analysis, the Financial Analyst will play a key role in the preparation of IFRS-compliant financial statements and disclosures, accounting policy development, technical accounting research, and audit support activities for the LCBO. The successful candidate will serve as a trusted advisor on complex accounting and financial reporting matters, providing guidance on the application of IFRS while supporting the organization's commitment to accurate, transparent, and high-quality financial reporting.

About the Role

  • Prepare reports, analysis and information required by various stakeholder including the LCBO business partners, internal auditors and the Provincial auditors for the year end audit.
  • Research, interpret, and apply IFRS requirements to complex accounting transactions and emerging business initiatives.
  • Act as an internal accounting policy advisor, providing IFRS guidance and advisory services to finance and business stakeholders.
  • Prepare technical accounting memoranda, accounting position papers, and recommendations for management related to significant accounting matters.
  • Assess the impact of new and amended accounting standards and support implementation initiatives across the organization.
  • Coordinate and support internal and external year-end audit activities, including responding to audit inquiries and documenting accounting positions.
  • Support period-end, quarterly, year-end close and reporting cycles, including journal entries, variance analysis and meaningful financial insights for senior management.
  • Assist with ad hoc projects and strategic initiatives related to financial reporting, technical accounting, and finance transformation.

About You

  • Post-secondary education in financial or business field and/or equivalent working experience.
  • Chartered Professional Accounting designation and CA are preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience in dealing with and applying IFRS/IASs.
  • External reporting experience in Retail field area, with the ability to draft external financial statement in accordance with IFRS standards.
  • Experience researching accounting issues and preparing technical accounting memos, position papers, and policy documentation.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Power BI, with strong working knowledge of SAP S/4 HANA and SAP Fiori considered strong assets.
  • Strong Financial modelling skills and knowledge working with financial reporting systems, in support of periodic commentary and presentation for management decision support.
  • Strong understanding of internal controls over financial reporting (ICFR).
  • Ability to handle many tasks and competing priorities with proficiency to employ financial analysis, reporting techniques and always be best in class.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, along with proven track record to effectively work in a team environment.
  • Ability to quickly adapt to change and build and sustain business relationships.
