What You Can Expect:

Financial Accounting & Reporting

  • Manage the full spectrum of accounting functions including General Ledger (GL), Accounts Receivable (AR), Accounts Payable (AP), fixed assets, intercompany transactions, and cash management.
  • Ensure timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closing.
  • Prepare journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, and supporting schedules.
  • Prepare balance sheet reconciliations and account analyses.
  • Prepare monthly management reports and reporting packages for Regional and Headquarters.
  • Prepare annual statutory financial statements and quarterly reporting under Japanese GAAP (JP-GAAP).
  • Ensure accuracy and integrity of financial records and reporting.

Budgeting, Forecasting & Business Partnering

  • Lead annual budgeting and periodic forecasting processes in cooperation with local management and regional finance teams.
  • Conduct variance analysis and provide financial insights to management.
  • Support strategic decision-making through financial analysis and business performance reviews.
  • Provide recommendations to improve profitability, operational efficiency, and financial performance.

Tax & Statutory Compliance

  • Manage all tax-related matters, including:
    • Corporate Income Tax
    • Consumption Tax
    • Withholding Tax
    • Fixed Asset Tax
    • Corporate Inhabitant Tax and Enterprise Tax
  • Coordinate with external tax advisors for tax filings and compliance requirements.
  • Support all statutory filings and government reporting requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with Japanese accounting standards, tax regulations, and company policies.

Internal Control, Audit & Risk Management

  • Maintain and strengthen internal controls and financial governance processes.
  • Ensure compliance with Group finance policies and reporting requirements.
  • Support internal audits and coordinate external audit activities.
  • Identify financial and operational risks and recommend mitigation measures.
  • Ensure proper documentation and retention of accounting records.

Cash Flow & Working Capital Management

  • Monitor cash flow and liquidity position.
  • Review and manage accounts receivable aging and collection activities.
  • Support credit management and customer credit reviews.
  • Manage payment processes for vendors, employees, taxes, and intercompany transactions.

Regional & Headquarters Collaboration

  • Work closely with APAC Finance and HQ Finance teams on:
    • Monthly and annual reporting
    • Consolidation package submissions
    • Budget and forecast exercises
    • Financial controlling initiatives
    • Ad hoc finance projects
  • Ensure timely submission of required reports and compliance with Group deadlines.

Team Leadership

  • Lead, coach, and develop finance team members.
  • Set performance objectives and conduct performance evaluations.
  • Foster collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement within the finance function.

What You Bring:

Qualifications and Experience

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of progressive finance and accounting experience.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and Japanese tax regulations.
  • Experience handling monthly and annual closing processes independently.
  • Business-level proficiency in both Japanese and English.
  • Advanced Excel and financial analysis skills.

Preferred

  • Nissho Bookkeeping Test (Level 2 or above).
  • CPA, Tax Accountant qualification, or equivalent professional certification.
  • Experience in logistics, freight forwarding, transportation, or multinational companies.
  • Experience with SAP or other ERP systems.
  • Prior people management experience.
