Position description

The Faculty of Dental Medicine and Oral Health Sciences at McGill University is a dynamic faculty with a strong record of national and international leadership in the advancement of dental education, research and the profession. We are inviting applications for a part-time Ranked Contract Academic Staff Position at the level of Faculty Lecturer in the field of General Dentistry starting in the academic year 2026-2027. This is a ranked appointment as a member of the Contract Academic Staff and does not confer eligibility for tenure.

The primary responsibility of the successful candidate will be clinical supervision and clinical teaching in the field of oral diagnosis, preventive dentistry & periodontics, oral radiology but can be extended to comprehensive care.  Community-oriented responsibilities will also be expected, commensurate with the importance the Faculty places on these areas.

Job Duties

Successful applicants will be expected to:

• Provide clinical training/teaching to undergraduate students.
• Supervise students during clinical procedures while ensuring patient well-being and maintaining a supportive learning environment.
• Evaluate students and contribute to their professional development.
• Perform all professional dental duties in accordance with current standards of practice.
• Collaborate with faculty members and clinical training coordinators to ensure consistency in student supervision and the integration of evidence-based practice into professional care.
• Participate in all aspects of McGill’s academic mission (i.e. teaching and involvement in academic and administrative committees).

Qualifications

Applicants must have a D.M.D. or D.D.S. or equivalent from an accredited school. Applicants must be licensed or be eligible to be licensed by the Ordre des dentistes du Quebec. In accordance with career stage, candidates are expected to demonstrate evidence of recent clinical practice and high-quality teaching, inclusive pedagogy, and supervision of a diverse student body.
