About the Role

  • Bachelor's Degree in Geology, Engineering Geology, Geological Engineering, or related discipline.
  • Master's Degree in Engineering Geology, Geotechnical Engineering, or related field is preferred.
  • Minimum 10 years of professional experience in engineering geology.
  • At least 5 years of experience in dams, hydropower, pumped storage, tunneling, or major underground infrastructure projects.
  • Experience in construction supervision and geological investigations for large civil works.

Responsibilities

  • Review and validate geological mapping, borehole logs, and subsurface investigation data.
  • Assess rock mass quality, structural geology, faults, fractures, and discontinuities.
  • Evaluate geological conditions at dam, reservoir, tunnel, powerhouse, and ancillary structure locations.
  • Interpret geotechnical and geophysical investigation results.
  • Develop geological models to support engineering design and construction activities.
  • Identify and assess geological hazards including landslides, slope instability, erosion, seepage, and seismic risks.
  • Review contractor investigations and hazard mitigation measures.
  • Provide recommendations for ground stabilization and hazard control.
  • Monitor changing geological conditions during construction.
  • Participate in risk assessments and dam safety reviews.
  • Conduct geological inspections of excavations, tunnel faces, foundations, and slopes.
  • Verify actual ground conditions against design assumptions.
  • Supervise geological logging of drill cores and exposed rock surfaces.
  • Recommend modifications to excavation and support measures where required.
  • Coordinate with Resident Engineers and Contractors regarding geological findings.
  • Review geological aspects of design reports, drawings, and technical specifications.
  • Provide geological input for dam foundations, tunnels, caverns, slopes, and underground works.
  • Support geotechnical and structural engineers in evaluating design assumptions.
  • Assess seepage, groundwater, and foundation treatment requirements.
  • Participate in constructability and value engineering reviews.
  • Prepare geological assessment reports and technical memoranda.
  • Maintain geological records, mapping, logs, and investigation databases.
  • Participate in project meetings and technical reviews.
  • Coordinate with designers, contractors, regulatory agencies, and project stakeholders.
  • Support compliance with dam safety, environmental, and project requirements.
