About this Automation Test Lead - PEGA role at Synechron
Job Description:
- Lead the automation testing strategy and implementation for enterprise Pega applications.
- Design and maintain scalable automation frameworks for UI, API and end-to-end testing.
- Identify suitable candidates for automation and maximise regression coverage.
- Integrate automated testing into CI/CD pipelines and establish automated quality gates.
- Lead and develop the automation and quality engineering team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Define automation strategy, roadmap, tooling selection and ROI model.
- Design and maintain reusable automation frameworks - hybrid, data-driven, keyword-driven, BDD/Cucumber, Page Object Model.
- Develop automated UI/API test scripts, handling Pega's dynamic DOM in Constellation and traditional UI.
- Lead automation of Pega-specific layers - Pega Scenario Testing, Pega Automated Unit Testing (AUT) and rule-level coverage.
- Automate and optimise regression test suites; drive regression cycle time down and coverage up.
- Integrate automation with CI/CD - Deployment Manager, Jenkins, GitLab CI, Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions.
- Own test data management strategy, synthetic data generation, masking and environment refresh coordination.
- Manage test data and environments.
- Lead performance and load test strategy (JMeter, LoadRunner, Gatling) and interpret Pega PAL, DB Trace and PDC output.
- Analyse automation results and investigate automation failures and flakiness.
- Lead defect triage, root-cause analysis and prevention actions.
- Track and report automation coverage, pass rate, execution time and quality metrics.
- Establish testing standards, code review practice and version control discipline for test assets.
- Mentor automation engineers and allocate work across the team.
- Collaborate with Pega developers and architects on testability and shift-left practice.
- Provide quality sign-off and go/no-go recommendations at release gates.
- Evaluate emerging tooling, including AI-assisted test generation and self-healing automation.
Technical Qualification: Minimum knowledge, skills, abilities needed:
- Strong automation-testing experience, including framework design from scratch.
- Experience testing Pega applications.
- Experience with Pega Scenario Testing and Pega Automated Unit Testing (AUT).
- Strong API testing experience.
- UI automation experience.
- Knowledge of Selenium/Playwright/Cypress or equivalent.
- Experience with REST API automation (RestAssured, Karate, Postman/Newman, SoapUI).
- Programming experience in Java, Python, JavaScript or equivalent.
- CI/CD experience and pipeline ownership.
- SQL/database testing knowledge.
- Git and version control discipline for test assets.
- Agile/Scrum experience.
- Team leadership and mentoring experience.
Educational Qualification:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, Engineering or a related technical discipline.
- Master's degree (M.Tech / MCA) is an advantage.
Preferred Qualification:
- 7+ years testing experience.
- 5+ years automation experience.
- 3+ years Pega testing experience.
- 2+ years leading QA/automation teams.
- ISTQB Foundation certification.
- ISTQB Advanced Test Automation Engineer or Test Manager certification.
- Certified Pega System Architect (CPSA / CSA) is strongly recommended.
- Experience with Pega Constellation testing.
- Experience integrating automation into DevOps pipelines.
- DevOps or cloud certification (Docker, Kubernetes/CKAD, Azure DevOps Engineer, AWS/Azure Associate).
- Performance testing experience is advantageous.
