Job Description

 

Job Title:       Application Programmer - Level III
Location:       Redstone Arsenal (FAHC), Huntsville, Alabama (on-site)
Supporting:  The Defense Health Agency (DHA) **Secret Security Clearance**

 

Overview

CompTech is seeking an experienced Application Programmer III to help keep enterprise applications reliable, secure and responsive to user needs at Redstone Arsenal. If you enjoy understanding how applications work, solving complex software problems and turning user requirements into practical technical solutions, this role offers the opportunity to apply those skills in support of the Defense Health Agency. You will work across the application lifecycle—from analyzing requirements and modifying code to testing, implementation and ongoing support. You will collaborate with users, programmers, system administrators and cybersecurity teams to improve applications and resolve the issues that affect their operation.

 

Work Scope

Key responsibilities include:

  • Analyze existing applications and programming systems, identify improvements, and develop detailed specifications for application changes.
  • Write and modify code, debug software, and install and configure application systems to meet technical and operational requirements.
  • Translate user needs into application inputs, processing requirements and outputs.
  • Troubleshoot complex application, software, configuration and system issues; help resolve performance and availability problems.
  • Coordinate application testing and validation and oversee implementation of the hardware and software components needed for approved applications.
  • Create and maintain diagrams, flowcharts, process flows and technical documentation that help other technical staff understand and support applications.
  • Provide technical guidance during application changes, testing, implementation and maintenance; coordinate solutions with technical teams and end users.
  • Support the configuration, maintenance, security, backup, recovery and reliable operation of the systems supporting enterprise applications, and ensure changes meet applicable technical and cybersecurity requirements.

 

Experience, Education, and Certification Requirements:

Experience:

  • Six years of progressive experience in application programming, application development, application systems analysis or a closely related technical discipline demonstrating advanced proficiency.
  • Hands-on experience analyzing, modifying, debugging and supporting application or programming systems.
  • Experience developing application specifications and translating user or operational needs into technical solutions, including inputs, processing and outputs.
  • Experience implementing and supporting application software and associated system components, and coordinating testing, validation and implementation.
  • Experience troubleshooting complex application and system issues and creating technical diagrams, flowcharts or process documentation.

 

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree or applicable equivalency of four (4) additional years of relevant experience.

Required Certification:

  • Commercial baseline certifications applicable to this role may include:
    • (ISC)² CISSP
    • CompTIA CASP+

Additional certifications relevant to technical support, desktop support, or DoD cyber workforce requirements are a plus.

 

Security Clearance Requirements:

  • Active Secret Clearance

Salary:

  • $95,000 - $98,000 plus Full Benefits, PTO, 401k+
