Jobs Companies LearnWorlds Software Engineer in Test (Remote, Greece or Cyprus)

About this Software Engineer in Test (Remote, Greece or Cyprus) role at LearnWorlds

LearnWorlds · Remote · Athens, Attica, Greece

At LearnWorlds, we believe learning is the original human superpower, the force that turns knowledge into products, skills, and progress.

Our platform helps creators, educators, and organizations in more than 150 countries turn expertise into scalable learning experiences that sell, teach, and transform. As AI floods the world with information, learning becomes the only countermeasure, the skill that keeps humans creative, relevant, and in control.

The winners won't be those who automate fastest, but those who learn and adapt fastest. They'll need platforms that turn knowledge into teachable systems that scale, and that's exactly what LearnWorlds enables.

Build. Ship. Test. Improve. (Repeat.)

We're redefining how people create and share online learning and we're doing it with engineers who care deeply about product quality, clean architecture, and meaningful impact. We're a remote-first, fast-growing EdTech SaaS with a global footprint.

Our Engineering team builds the core experiences that thousands of educators and learners rely on daily. We move fast, we collaborate tightly, and we're constantly leveling up, both as individuals and as a team.

We're now looking for an experienced Software Engineer in Test to own automation outcomes for assigned product areas. You will build and maintain reliable Playwright and TypeScript automated tests using the Page Object Model (POM) pattern, and help teams decide what should be automated and what should stay manual or exploratory. You'll direct AI Agents daily to plan, generate, debug and maintain automation. It's how the work ships here, not a perk.

You'll join an established and fast-paced environment with a focus on ensuring quality deliveries and exceptional experience to all our users.

If you're a engineer who loves solving real quality challenges, writing maintainable test code, directing AI agents with judgment, and building automation that teams actually trust, this is where you'll do your best work.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Own your product area. Join planning before the code exists, while scope, risk, data, and environments are still cheap to change
  • Pick the right layer. API where it's enough, E2E where only a browser will do, smoke for release signal, the cheapest test that still catches the bug
  • Build and evolve the framework. Page objects, flows, typed API clients, fixtures, code other engineers read and extend
  • Work across Product and Engineering. Push for testability while the design is still open, and keep automation useful instead of noisy
  • Design Phase. Formulate efficient and deterministic test scenarios and create comprehensive test strategy plans
  • Own CI e2e. Fast, deterministic, diagnosable. Fix flakiness at the root cause; a rerun is not a fix.
  • Report coverage and risk honestly. What automation covers, what it doesn't, and what still needs manual or exploratory testing.
  • Report defects developers can act on. Identify, categorize, and report bugs and errors to development teams with insightful information (screenshots, traces, error messages, stack traces, etc.), separating product defects from automation defects, environment issues, and data problems
  • Direct AI Agents, then own the output. Plan scope, generate tests, investigate failures and reject what's flaky, unasserted, or five times larger than the task.
  • Build the AI tooling layer. Reusable agent skills, subagent definitions, and the machine-readable convention rules everyone's tests get reviewed against locators, page-object structure, spec placement, test IDs, so generated tests are correct by default.
  • Shape the testing standards, don't just follow them.

Why You'll Love This Role

  • You'll work on real features used by thousands of educators and, most importantly, tens of millions of learners around the world
  • You'll build and evolve test automation that scales with our growing platform and ensures quality at every release
  • You'll be part of a tight-knit team where your ideas matter, and your work directly impacts product quality
  • You'll grow fast—technically and professionally in a team that's generous with knowledge and big on collaboration
  • You'll own meaningful product-area automation, not just isolated test cases, and help teams ship faster
  • You'll work in an engineering culture that treats Agentic AI as a real skill: prompt, steer, review, and ship faster without lowering the bar for test quality

Requirements

Must-Haves

  • At least 3 years of professional experience as a Quality Assurance / Software Testing engineer, with strong automation ownership
  • Strong proficiency in TypeScript and modern JavaScript/TypeScript development practices
  • Hands-on experience with Playwright test automation framework (or a comparable modern web automation framework) and Page Object Model (POM) design pattern
  • Experience with version control systems (Git) and CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions or similar)
  • Excellent analytical thinking to produce and document test scenarios, acceptance criteria, and test strategy plans
  • Comfortable at more than one layer, API, UI, cross-browser, responsive, and able to say which one a given risk belongs to
  • Excellent debugging, problem-solving, and performance optimization skills
  • Close attention to detail and a product-oriented mindset, automation is a tool for product confidence, not the goal by itself
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts, coverage, gaps, and remaining risk
  • Team player with the ability to get things done in a non-hierarchical flat organization
  • Excellent prioritization, estimation, and scheduling skills
  • Ability to learn the LearnWorlds platform quickly and connect automation decisions to real customer workflows
  • Proven Agentic AI skills: you regularly use and improve AI agents to complete multi-step test engineering work—planning, generating, debugging, and maintaining automation
  • Strong judgment over AI output: you review, steer, and reject generated tests that are flaky, insecure, poorly structured, or disconnected from real risk

Nice-to-Haves

  • Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, or containerized test environments
  • Experience in EdTech, LMS systems, payments, ecommerce, analytics, mobile, or other complex SaaS products
  • Experience with test management tools (TestRail, Zephyr, or similar)
  • Familiarity with cloud technologies like AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud
  • Experience with backend/API automation beyond UI flows
  • GitHub repos, open-source contributions, or personal projects you're proud of

You'll Thrive Here If You…

  • Prefer ownership over hand-holding and clarity over bureaucracy
  • Think speed and quality can (and should) co-exist
  • Ask "why" before "how," and make decisions with context, not just checklists
  • Love clean code, good architecture, and continuous improvement
  • Embrace feedback, stay curious, and enjoy sharing knowledge
  • Treat AI agents as collaborators you direct with clear intent, not as a shortcut around engineering judgment
  • Believe AI won't replace QA engineers—but engineers who work well with agents will outperform those who don't

Benefits

    • Private life and health insurance plan
    • Fully remote work if you prefer to work from home, apart from when we have team meetings a few times per year
    • Your personal annual training budget
    • An annual home office allowance to set up your personal space
    • Company laptop
    • 23 days of paid time off
    • 3 early summer Fridays in July and August
    • Access to AI tools at work
    • A free LearnWorlds School to build and sell your own courses
    • Company retreats & other onsite team activities (see the video of our latest retreat).
