About this Lead Software Engineer role at Snappi
At Snappi, we're building a neobank from the ground up. Our mission is to empower financial freedom through technology, offering innovative and transparent digital banking solutions.
Join us in reshaping the financial landscape!
About the Role
As Lead Software Engineer, you’ll be one of the technical authorities on how Snappi’s systems are designed and built. You’ll own the architecture that power our bank: domain boundaries, API contracts, integrations and the services behind our products and operations. You’ll also build it yourself, with AI agents as part of your daily toolchain.
This is a senior individual contributor role. You’ll work with both our engineering partners and our in-house team of software, ML, data, cloud operations and CRM engineers. Your job is to connect them into one coherent engineering system.
Where you’ll make an impact
We have several systems to design, build, expand, and the order will follow the business priorities. You’ll contribute to various domains such as:
- Credit decisioning. A decision engine that combines our in-house predictive models with policy rules, data sources and human review. It must be explainable, auditable and safe to change.
- Operations automation. Workflows and agents that remove manual work across onboarding, KYC/KYB, payments operations, risk and customer support.
- Product development. The services that integrate and power our bank, linking our channels with our partner products, with business logic in the right place.
- Integrations. Clean, well-bounded integrations with core banking, card processing, open banking and third-party providers.
- Data and AI platform. Getting data, models and AI agents into production reliably, together with our Data and ML teams.
What you’ll do
- Design the systems. Define and evolve Snappi’s target architecture: bounded domains, contracts, event flows and decision services. Make it secure, resilient and auditable, as a bank needs to be.
- Build what you design. Write production code and reference implementations, using AI coding agents to move fast without lowering the bar.
- Shape our AI-native SDLC. Put spec-driven development and agent-assisted delivery into practice, and help curate the instructions, skills and guardrails our agents rely on.
- Set the engineering standard. Review designs and code from in-house and partner engineers, and make sure quality is built into the codebase and enforced by CI/CD.
- Work across platforms. Partner with Cloud Ops, Data and ML so features ship end to end, from infrastructure as code to models in production.
- Translate the business. Work with Product, Credit, Risk and Operations to turn banking needs into simple, well-bounded technical solutions, and help decide what to build first.
Requirements
- Extensive experience designing and building complex, distributed, production-grade systems, and owning their architecture end to end.
- Strong system design skills: domain modelling, API and event-driven design, data consistency, security, resilience and observability.
- Comfort working across very different problem spaces, such as decision systems, workflow automation and customer-facing services, while keeping the overall architecture coherent.
- Deep expertise in at least one modern backend ecosystem, and the ability to work across languages and technologies (our stack includes .NET, Go, Python).
- Daily, hands-on use of AI coding agents, with a clear view on making their output reliable through specs, context, tests and review.
- A track record of making codebases testable and automating delivery through CI/CD.
- Comfort with ambiguity and shifting priorities, and the judgement to sequence work for the most business impact.
- Ability to lead through influence across partners, product and engineering, with a strong ownership mindset.
- Fluent English.
Nice to have
- Experience in banking, payments, lending or card processing.
- Experience building decision or rules engines (credit decisioning, fraud, risk scoring), or integrating ML models into regulated decisions.
- Experience with workflow orchestration (e.g. Temporal, Durable Functions, Camunda) or building production AI agents.
- Knowledge of regulatory and security frameworks such as DORA, PSD2/SCA or the EU AI Act.
- Greek.
