We are seeking a hands-on Automation & Robotics Engineer responsible for the design, installation, integration, programming, troubleshooting, repair, and preventive maintenance of automated manufacturing equipment, robotic systems, and computer-controlled machinery.

This position will play a key role in maintaining plant automation systems, improving equipment reliability, supporting production, and ensuring automated equipment operates safely and efficiently.

What Will You Do?

Automation, Robotics & Controls

• Install, set up, program, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain automated manufacturing equipment and robotic systems.
• Program and troubleshoot complete robotic systems, including ABB and FANUC robots.
• Work with robot programming platforms including ABB RAPID and FANUC KAREL.
• Program, troubleshoot, and maintain PLC-controlled equipment, motor drives, digital electronics, and solid-state devices.
• Utilize Rockwell Software applications for automation and controls programming and troubleshooting.
• Support and maintain vision systems, automation controllers, sensors, and peripheral equipment.
• Assist with the design, layout, installation, integration, and relocation of automated equipment and machinery.
• Diagnose equipment and controls issues to minimize manufacturing downtime.
• Understand the function and operation of automated equipment throughout the assigned area.

Electrical & Mechanical Troubleshooting

• Read and interpret electrical and electronic schematics for troubleshooting, repair, and equipment modifications.
• Read and understand hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical drawings as they relate to electromechanical machine controls.
• Troubleshoot basic and digital electronic systems, PLCs, motor drives, controls, and other industrial automation components.
• Support mechanical repair, fluid power, and pneumatic systems as needed.
• Apply knowledge of electronic theory, Boolean logic, arithmetic circuits, and industrial controls when troubleshooting equipment.

Industrial Networks & Software

• Configure and troubleshoot industrial machine networks, including Ethernet and DeviceNet.
• Install machine software and maintain regular backups of critical programs, equipment data, and setup information.
• Maintain accurate records of programming changes, equipment repairs, and system modifications.

Preventive Maintenance & Reliability

• Develop, implement, and maintain a preventive maintenance program for automation equipment.
• Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on robots, controls, vision systems, and other automated equipment.
• Maintain automation repair records, program files, equipment logbooks, and technical documentation.
• Manage spare parts, automation supplies, consumables, specialized tools, and electronic equipment inventories.
• Identify opportunities to improve equipment reliability and prevent recurring downtime.

Production & Project Support

• Coordinate programming, electronic maintenance, equipment installations, and repairs with production schedules and plant personnel.
• Assist with new equipment installations and the relocation or modification of existing automation systems.
• Partner with production and maintenance teams to safely return equipment to service following failures or modifications.
• Write basic technical reports, processes, procedures, and equipment documentation.

Safety & Training

• Ensure automated equipment complies with applicable plant safety requirements and OSHA standards.
• Identify and help correct potential machine control, guarding, and equipment safety concerns.
• Promote strong housekeeping, safety, and ergonomic practices within the assigned area.
• Recommend and support training programs that allow plant personnel to safely and efficiently operate automated equipment.
• Train employees on appropriate automation equipment operation and safety procedures as needed.

Planning & Administration

• Plan, prepare, and manage the annual operating budget for automation-related activities within the department.
• Maintain appropriate inventories of automation equipment, spare parts, tools, and supplies.
• Assist in planning future automation installations and equipment upgrades.

What Do You Need?

To be considered for this role, an individual should meet the following requirements:

• Minimum of a two-year Associate or technical degree in an automation and controls-related field is required.
• Three or more years of plant automation systems and controls experience.
• Hands-on experience with industrial automation, robotics, controls, or related manufacturing equipment.
• Ability to troubleshoot automated manufacturing systems and controls.
• Ability to read electrical/electronic schematics and technical drawings.
• Previous experience in a manufacturing or industrial production environment.
• Experience with Rockwell/Allen-Bradley controls and PLCs.
• Experience with industrial vision systems, motor drives, Ethernet, DeviceNet, pneumatics, and hydraulics.
• Hands-on experience with ABB and/or FANUC robotics.

• Competitive Salary – The pay range takes into account skills, experience, education, and location. It is not common to be hired at or near the top of the range; compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the annual pay range is between $84,300 - $105,400. Cash compensation is one piece of our competitive total rewards package. You may be eligible to participate in an incentive program, which rewards employees based on individual and organizational performance.
