Your New Role
As a People & Culture Advisor, you will partner closely with the Japan People & Culture team and Centers of Expertise (COEs) to deliver people strategies and HR initiatives that support Warner Bros. Discovery’s business goals. Acting as a trusted advisor to managers and employees, you will provide day-to-day HR guidance, drive operational excellence, and contribute to creating an exceptional employee experience across the employee lifecycle.
Reporting to the Senior Director, People & Culture Japan, this role supports employees across Warner Bros. Japan G.K., Turner Japan K.K., Discovery Japan G.K., and Discovery Japan K.K. You will play a key role in fostering an inclusive, collaborative, and high-performing workplace while ensuring compliance with local labor laws and company policies.
Your Role Accountabilities
Partner with People & Culture Partners and Centers of Expertise to support the implementation of people strategies and initiatives aligned with short-term and long-term business objectives.
Provide day-to-day HR support and guidance to managers and employees on employment administration, employee relations, performance management, workforce planning, employee well-being, and labor-related matters, escalating complex issues when appropriate.
Support organizational changes and workforce activities by ensuring accurate Workday data management, facilitating process execution, and maintaining strong HR operational standards.
Partner with Talent Acquisition and Learning & Development teams to support recruiting efforts, onboarding, employee development initiatives, and talent management programs.
Support employee lifecycle activities, including performance management processes, employee engagement initiatives, career development programs, and retention efforts to enhance the overall employee experience.
Collaborate with Legal, Finance, Communications, and other corporate functions to address employee and organizational matters while maintaining compliance with labor laws, regulations, and company policies.
Contribute to regional and global People & Culture projects while maintaining HR data, reporting, and analytics to support business and People & Culture priorities.
Qualifications & Experience
Required
Minimum 3 years of progressive Human Resources experience, preferably within a multinational and matrixed organization.
Business-level proficiency in both Japanese and English with strong verbal and written communication skills.
Strong knowledge of HR operations, employee relations principles, performance management practices, and Japanese labor law compliance.
Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced and evolving environment.
Preferred
Experience working with HR systems such as Workday and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
Demonstrated ability to build trusted relationships across all levels of an organization, with a proactive, customer-focused, and collaborative approach.
*This position is a 12-month contract role.
