Your Team

The ETF Platform team sits within BlackRock Global Markets & Index Investments (BGM), which brings together Index Investments, Markets, Liquidity & Financing, and Platform & Strategy. The ETF Platform team plays a pivotal role in expanding and safeguarding BlackRock’s and iShares’ ETF product suite across the region by designing and delivering scalable products and operating models across the ETF value chain. We are committed to modernizing markets and building the industry’s most innovative, scalable, and resilient platform. This foundation enables us to deliver a comprehensive range of ETFs that provide clients with precise, transparent, and cost-efficient access to diverse asset classes and global markets.

Your Role and Impact

You will play a key role in delivering the ETF platform capabilities required to support the continued development and growth of iShares and BlackRock’s Japan ETF business. This includes enhancing existing offerings and designing new creation and redemption processes that reflect evolving market dynamics. A critical aspect of the role is managing operational and investment risk while supporting the launch of sophisticated, innovative ETF products that deliver precise performance outcomes amid increasing complexity.

The candidate will bring strong Japan ETF market and industry expertise to help evolve the ETF platform, including new operating models, instruments, strategies and ecosystem connectivity. This role requires strong partnerships across the business and externally designing scalable, risk-focused solutions and leading industry engagement to support continued platform evolution. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of securities markets, investment products, and portfolio construction. Success in this role requires leadership across cross-functional teams, including Portfolio Management, ETF Markets, Product Strategy, Risk & Quantitative Analysis, Legal, and Compliance.

You will also collaborate externally with fund administrators, authorized participants and market makers, and index providers. Additionally, the position involves regular engagement with senior management and the preparation of committee proposals for new product initiatives.

Your Key Responsibilities

• Drive Innovation: Identify opportunities to enhance ETF structures, operating models and platform capabilities to support continued product innovation and growth.

• Design: Design ETF operating models and workflows for new strategies or exposures within an ETF wrapper, and evolve primary market models to enhance investor protection, liquidity, commercial efficiency, and regulatory alignment.

• Simplify Complexity: Quickly absorb technical concepts and communicate them clearly and effectively to diverse audiences.

• Deliver with Precision: Maintain exceptional attention to detail in preparing quantitative analyses, written materials, and presentations.

• Problem-Solve and Execute: Tackle challenges proactively, develop solutions, and advance strategic priorities with impact.

• Organize and Prioritize: Manage multiple initiatives simultaneously, ensuring timely delivery against competing deadlines.

• Collaborate for Success: Partner closely with internal teams to guide decision-making on product structuring, investment processes, and operating model design trade-offs.

• Deepen Expertise: Build a comprehensive understanding of our Japan ETF product range and identify opportunities for growth and differentiation.

• Ecosystem Partnership: Partner with ETF Markets and external market participants to incorporate AP and market-maker requirements into product structures, primary-market workflows and platform design.

You Have

• 7+ years of experience in financial services, with exposure to ETF product development, product structuring, portfolio management, risk management, or trading.

• Strong understanding of multiple asset classes, including equities, fixed income, commodities and digital.

• Demonstrated ability to lead projects and build effective relationships with internal and external partners.

• Comfort operating in ambiguous environments and delivering results under time pressure.

• Self-motivated with the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.

• Sound business judgment and decision-making skills, underpinned by integrity and emotional intelligence.

• Curiosity and a strong interest in financial markets, and the ability to learn quickly and apply new concepts effectively.

Our hybrid work model
