We are seeking an experienced Tools Administrator to lead the administration, governance, reliability, integration, and continuous improvement of enterprise Agile, collaboration, and supporting tool platforms. This role provides technical management across tool configuration, upgrades, integrations, APIs, monitoring, automation, security/compliance support, documentation, and user enablement while coordinating with automation, identity, security, infrastructure, and engineering teams.
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lead administration and governance of enterprise Agile and collaboration platforms, including Jira, Confluence, GitHub Enterprise, and related tools.
- Manage platform configurations, workflows, projects/spaces, permissions, plugins, dashboards, integrations, and administration standards.
- Plan and coordinate tool upgrades, plugin changes, configuration changes, integrations, and lifecycle activities, including assessment of user, workflow, access, and integration impacts.
- Coordinate upgrade testing, implementation readiness, change communications, documentation, training materials, and rollback preparedness with supporting engineering teams.
- Establish and maintain tool-monitoring, operational-health, incident-response, and troubleshooting practices.
- Lead API integration and API-governance activities, including documentation, authentication, authorization, monitoring, and approved automation.
- Define and prioritize opportunities to automate tool administration and operations using APIs, scripting, Infrastructure as Code, CI/CD, and automated testing.
- Provide technical direction to automation engineers performing infrastructure provisioning, configuration automation, automated browser/API testing, CI/CD validation, containerization, certificate automation, and related engineering activities.
- Coordinate enterprise identity integration, including SSO, MFA, authentication, authorization, provisioning, and access controls, with identity-management specialists.
- Coordinate security, vulnerability-management, audit, and compliance activities for managed tools with security specialists.
- Establish deployment and upgrade approaches that minimize service disruption and support high availability.
- Maintain operational documentation including runbooks, SOPs, configuration standards, troubleshooting guides, API inventories, and platform dependency documentation.
- Build and maintain institutional knowledge to support effective troubleshooting, administration, and transition.
- Communicate tool upgrades, access changes, standards changes, and other user-impacting updates clearly to affected users and stakeholders.
- Identify opportunities to improve tool performance, reliability, maintainability, portability, and operating cost.
- Collaborate with Agile delivery, engineering, DevOps, security, identity, service desk, and infrastructure teams to support enterprise tool users.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:
- 7+ years of relevant IT/platform administration experience.
- 4+ years of enterprise Atlassian administration experience, including Jira and Confluence.
- Hands-on experience with enterprise tool configuration, workflows, permissions, plugins, and integrations.
- Experience with REST APIs, scripting, and enterprise system integrations.
- Working knowledge of DevOps, CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code, cloud, monitoring, and automated testing concepts.
- Experience supporting SSO/MFA and enterprise identity integrations.
- Strong troubleshooting, documentation, communication, and stakeholder-management skills.
- Experience leading or coordinating technical administrators and automation engineers.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
- Atlassian administration certification or equivalent demonstrated expertise.
- Experience with GitHub Enterprise and enterprise collaboration platforms.
- Experience with Terraform, CloudFormation, Ansible, or similar automation technologies.
- Experience with CI/CD platforms and automated browser/API testing.
- Experience in regulated, government, healthcare, or other security-conscious enterprise environments.
- Familiarity with Agile/SAFe delivery practices.
EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant experience.
