Job Description:

Supporting the leadership of a more connected future of care

St Vincent's has been a leader in Australia's health and aged care landscape for more than 165 years. Since our founders, the Sisters of Charity, opened our first hospital in 1857, our services and people have been behind some of Australia's most important medical breakthroughs. Today, as we expand care beyond hospital walls and create more connected models of care, St Vincent’s is helping shape a better, fairer health and aged care system.

We are looking for a special kind of person - a St Vincent’s kind of person. Someone who combines sharp thinking, good judgement and deep care for others.

The Opportunity

We are presently recruiting multiple Technical Field Engineer roles to bolster our existing, high performing NSW team, and in doing so, uplifting the overall capability of our business-critical National Service Management footprint.

These vacancies have come about through a combination of internal career development opportunities and temporary secondments, supporting business critical projects as St Vincent’s progresses through an exciting period of growth and technology transformation.

Consequently, we can offer a blend of permanent ongoing and fixed term contract appointments, with a minim contract term of 12 months.

Key Responsibilities

As key members of our NSW Digital & Technology operations, you will provide first and second-level technical support for computer and telephony systems, software, and hardware issues, both remotely and on site across our Hospital and Aged Care network.

You will troubleshoot, monitor, and restore personal computers and devices connected to our network, whilst consistently delivering the highest levels of customer service; managing issues with efficiency, integrity and compassion.

Key day to day accountabilities include:

  • Providing prompt and effective 1st and 2nd level support for all end-user IT hardware and software issues onsite and remotely

  • Respond to faults involving Windows desktop operating systems, Office 365 applications, network connectivity, printer queues, and device drivers.

  • Ensure equipment, stock, and spare parts are maintained and available at designated locations.

  • Provide support and incident response for nurse call systems, telephony handsets, and meeting room AV equipment.

  • Participate in the after-hours on-call roster (on call allowance and call out payments apply)

About You

As a dynamic and dedicated technology professional, you understand the critical role of IT operations within a multi-site healthcare environment such as St Vincent’s.

You are customer centric, driven by a desire to quickly resolve technology issues whilst constantly identifying opportunities to minimise future disruptions and outages. Furthermore, you thrive in complex environments, quickly identifying the issue and translating complexity into clear advice, decisions and action.

To be successful in these roles, it is anticipated you will possess:

  • A Cert IV in Information Technology Support, or at a minimum, a Cert III in Information Technology Support complimented with significant experience in a similar role

  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience in Telecommunications, Desktop, Field Engineering or other relevant IT roles

  • The ability to participate in our after-hours, on-call roster (mandatory for all Technical Field Engineers)

  • A current, valid driver’s license with 24/7 access to a reliable car (vehicle usage allowance applies)

  • Strong knowledge and skills in PC hardware and associated devices

  • Good understanding and associated skills in networking

  • Experience supporting AV systems, nurse call, telephony and comms room infrastructure

  • Working knowledge of Cisco, VoIP, DECT and Analog Phone setup and configuration

Whilst not essential, previous exposure to healthcare operational environments will be highly regarded.

Why Join St Vincent’s?
