About the Role:

S&P Global's Dividend Forecasting provides announcements and forecasts for dividend amounts and key dates for more than 35,000 stocks globally. Forecasts are up to five years in the future, subject to availability.

Dividend forecasts are a key input used to price options and futures. Our main customers include investment banks, hedge funds, market makers, risk managers and derivatives exchanges.

Dividend forecasts are created using a bottom-up, research led methodology to provide the highest level of accuracy. They are based on a range of factors including recent market news, direct company guidance, fundamental analysis, historical observations and peer group trends.

The successful candidate will work as part of the APAC dividend research team covering the companies in South Korea, with opportunities to grow and expand their coverage to other Asian markets as well. You are responsible for providing dividend forecasts for a portfolio of stocks, through in-depth research and financial analysis of company fundamentals. Analysts are also responsible for providing ad-hoc customer-driven research, thematic reports, and customer support.

Duties & accountabilities

• A keen awareness of the impact dividends forecasts have on the value of equity derivatives
• Develop and maintain dividend forecasts for listed companies across assigned markets, incorporating company guidance, financial performance, payout policies, and market developments.
• Analyze corporate actions and shareholder return programs, including dividends, buybacks, special distributions, and capital management initiatives, to assess their impact on forecasts.
• Build and enhance quantitative forecasting models utilizing company financials, consensus estimates, macroeconomic indicators, and historical dividend trends.
• Monitor earnings releases, investor presentations, regulatory filings, and management commentary to identify changes to dividend outlooks and update forecasts accordingly.
• Conduct sector, market, and index-level dividend research, providing insights into dividend sustainability, growth trends, and shareholder return strategies.
• Maintain data quality and methodological integrity by validating forecasts, documenting assumptions, performing variance analysis, and ensuring compliance with internal research standards.
• Building relationships with investor relations departments at companies within coverage
• Respond to daily client demands with bespoke analysis

Education & experience

• Undergraduate/Graduate degree in Economics, Finance. Other fields will be considered provided candidate has interest in global equities markets
• Prior experience in the financial markets and / or financial analysis of companies
• Knowledge and adaptability for using AI tools for automation
• CFA Charter or working towards its
• Keen interest in financial news, market events and their implications
• Knowledge of financial statement analysis
• Knowledge of equity derivatives
• Able to organize and self-manage, including effective scheduling, prioritization and time management skills
• Able to manage multiple tasks in parallel, completing tasks to tight deadlines

Personal competencies

• Excellent attention to detail and a meticulous eye for identifying inconsistencies or inaccuracies in data entry or data outputs
• Fluent in Korean is required
• Demonstrates a can-do attitude
• Displays a resilient and adaptable style, remaining calm in demanding circumstances
• Confidently speaking directly with both customers and investor relations departments
• Strong report writing skills, ability to develop and present ideas
• A willingness to contribute to the continued development of the team
• Works collaboratively with others to achieve group goals and objectives
