Manager, Solution Architect

Technology Services – Asia Pacific, China Market

Overview

Johnson & Johnson Technology Services enables the company’s mission by delivering modern, scalable, compliant and innovative foundational platforms and digital services across the Asia Pacific region.

We are seeking a Manager, Solution Architect to partner with business and technology teams in designing and delivering enterprise technology solutions that align with our architecture standards and business objectives.

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Solution Architecture, you will be responsible for translating business needs into high-quality, scalable technical architectures. You will work closely with engineering and technology teams, sector IT partners, cybersecurity and regional stakeholders to design robust, compliant solutions tailored to China market including GenAI integrations, cloud platforms and modern enterprise software architecture.

The successful candidate must demonstrate strong analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence decisions without authority, lead multiple initiatives, and collaborate effectively across cross-functional teams. Passion for continuous learning, innovation, and solving complex business and technology challenges is essential.

Roles & Responsibilities

1. Solution Architecture & Technical Design

• Lead solution architecture and technical design for enterprise applications and digital platforms within China market.
• Translate business needs and architecture strategies into scalable, secure, resilient, and supportable solution designs.
• Define and apply reference architectures, design patterns, engineering standards, and technology best practices.
• Cloud Solution Design: Ability to evaluate and assess architectural trade-offs and select appropriate cloud services, architecture patterns, and technology components based on business, technical, security, operational, and cost requirements.
• Produce architecture deliverables including solution designs, integration architectures, GenAI design patterns, deployment models, and technical specifications.
• Ensure solutions meet functional and non-functional requirements, including security, performance, resilience, modernization, API first, AI-enabled, compliance and regulatory obligations.
• Conduct architecture reviews, technical assessments, solution evaluation and advisory activities throughout the project lifecycle.
• Provide governance and delivery oversight to ensure implementation aligns with approved architecture and enterprise standards.
• Identify technical risks, evaluate solution options, and drive mitigation strategies and technology decisions.

2. Business Partnership

• Partner with business technology stakeholders, product owners, project managers, to understand business priorities including regulatory and compliance needs.
• Collaborate with cross functional IT teams, enterprise architects, software engineering units to align technical designs with business requirements.
• Work closely with vendors and implementation partners to ensure solutions meet Johnson & Johnson standards and successful technical integration with internal platforms.
• Communicate technical concepts effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.

3. Technology Leadership and Architecture governance

• Recommend technology solutions, platforms, and integration approaches aligned with business and architecture objectives.
• Develop and maintain reference architectures, design standards, reusable patterns, and engineering best practices.
• Provide architecture governance and guidance to ensure solution delivery remains aligned with approved designs.
• Participate in architecture reviews and prepare technical artifacts for Architecture Review Board (ARB) evaluations.
• Evaluate emerging technologies and industry trends to inform technology roadmaps and enterprise capability evolution.
• Collaborate with Enterprise Architecture, Security, Data, Infrastructure, and Engineering teams to drive successful solution outcomes and continuous improvement.

 Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related discipline.
• 7+ years of experience in Information Technology, with at least 3+ years actively operating in a solution architect of lead technical engineer role.
• Demonstrated experience designing enterprise-scale technology solutions.
• Experience working across multiple technology domains.

  Preferred Qualifications

• Proven experience in working within multinational and life sciences organizations within China market.
• Understanding of regional technology considerations including data residency and regulatory requirements.
• Experience with Architecture Review Boards and architecture governance.
• Familiarity with TOGAF or enterprise architecture methodologies.
• AWS, Azure, AI Engineer/Practitioner certifications are advantageous.

Technical Skills and breadth:

Strong experience in several of the following areas:

• Cloud native services: Azure, AWS, cloud computing, security, defense in depth, strong understanding of cloud-native components and the ability to select appropriate platform components, deployment models, and architecture patterns
• Integration & APIs: REST APIs, API Management, enterprise integration patterns, and event-driven architectures
• Application Architecture: Distributed systems, microservices, containerization, and Kubernetes platforms
• Data & Messaging: Data architecture, data integration, and messaging technologies
• Security: Identity and Access Management (IAM) and security-by-design principles
• Enterprise business platforms: CRM (Salesforce, MS Dynamics), ERP (SAP and its variants), and enterprise business application ecosystems
• GenAI & AI Platform:
• LLMs, RAG, AI agents, and prompt orchestration
• AI application architecture and integration patterns
• Vector databases and semantic search
• AI gateways, guardrails, and responsible AI controls
• Model serving, inference platforms, and AI observability
• Multi-model, cloud-hosted, and self-hosted AI deployments
