Summary:

In this role, you will design, develop, test, and deliver complex software solutions that support the modernization of Vizient’s contracting platform. You will collaborate with product managers, business teams, architects, data scientists, and engineers to deliver secure, scalable, and AI-enabled capabilities through small, independently demonstrable increments. You will apply AI-assisted development practices, establish reusable engineering patterns, guide technical design decisions, and mentor engineers while balancing delivery speed with quality, security, maintainability, and long-term value.

Responsibilities:

• Design and develop scalable applications, services, APIs, data capabilities, and user experiences.
• Deliver complex software features spanning multiple technology domains through small, independently testable increments.
• Build secure REST APIs and event-driven integrations using appropriate messaging and Kafka-based patterns.
• Develop AI-enabled and agentic capabilities that improve how users understand information, make decisions, and manage work.
• Lead feature-level architecture, technical design, story refinement, and work decomposition activities.
• Contribute to product-level architecture decisions and reusable engineering patterns.
• Implement unit, integration, API, and end-to-end tests that support reliable software delivery.
• Apply observability, accessibility, security, performance, and operational-readiness practices throughout development.
• Use AI-assisted development tools responsibly and validate generated code for correctness, security, maintainability, and performance.
• Collaborate with product, architecture, data science, quality engineering, and business teams to deliver integrated solutions.
• Mentor engineers through technical guidance, code reviews, knowledge sharing, and development support.
• Improve development procedures, repository guidance, technical documentation, and Software Factory workflows.

Qualifications:

• Relevant degree preferred. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field preferred.
• 5 or more years of relevant experience required.
• Experience developing production software using Java, Spring Boot, or comparable backend technologies required.
• Experience building modern web applications using React, TypeScript, or comparable frontend technologies required.
• Experience designing and developing RESTful APIs, distributed services, and integrated software solutions required.
• Experience with relational databases such as PostgreSQL, including data modeling, query development, and performance optimization required.
• Experience with cloud-native development, automated testing, CI/CD pipelines, and source-control workflows required.
• Knowledge of application security, authentication, authorization, secure coding, and data protection practices preferred.
• Experience with Kafka, event-driven architecture, asynchronous processing, or comparable messaging technologies preferred.
• Experience with Microsoft Azure, Kubernetes, AKS, Helm, JFrog, Harness, or GitHub Actions preferred.
• Experience with AI-enabled applications, retrieval-augmented generation, agentic workflows, or AI-assisted software development preferred.
• Strong communication, technical problem-solving, documentation, mentoring, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
