What’s the Job?

We are seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to lead the integrated delivery of the University’s Banner SaaS implementation and associated business transformation programme.

This is a high-profile, enterprise-wide role that will bring together University teams, implementation partners, system integrators and third-party vendors. You will establish the structure, governance and delivery discipline required to move a complex programme forward and support successful implementation across the University.

You will lead programme planning, governance, reporting, risk and dependency management, vendor coordination, testing, cutover and operational readiness. You will work closely with accountable functional, technical, data, integration, testing, training and change leads to ensure all parts of the programme are aligned and progressing.

You will not be expected to be the technical subject-matter expert across every domain. However, you will need sufficient understanding of enterprise systems, integrations, data and technology delivery to identify risks, challenge assumptions and coordinate effective decisions.

This is a 12 months fixed-term opportunity based at our Surry Hills campus in Sydney, with hybrid flexibility.

Key Responsibilities (but not limited to):

• Lead a foundational platform / programme plan, including milestones, dependencies, resources, decisions and critical path activities. 

• Align programme delivery with university priorities, expected benefits, portfolio planning, and organisational outcomes.

• Establish and operate effective governance, executive reporting, assurance, and escalation processes.

• Coordinate functional, technical, data, integration, security, testing, training and change workstreams.

• Manage scope, requirements, risks, issues, dependencies, change control, and formal approvals.

• Act as the University’s primary day-to-day contact for implementation partners, system integrators and third-party vendors.

• Monitor vendor deliverables, performance, resourcing, service levels, commercial obligations, and escalations.

• Coordinate migration, technical readiness, and dependencies across the University’s wider digital ecosystem.

• Lead integrated testing, cutover and operational-readiness planning, ensuring workstream owners are prepared for implementation.

• Support regulatory compliance, benefits realisation, continuous improvement and the uplift of project delivery capability across the University.

Who You Are 
You are a calm, structured and outcomes-focused programme professional who is comfortable working in complex, matrixed environments. You bring clarity to competing priorities, communicate complex issues plainly and build confidence through transparency and follow-through.

You will bring:

• Demonstrated experience leading complex enterprise technology, SaaS, student information system or business transformation programmes.

• Direct Ellucian Banner experience is highly desirable. Experience with another higher education platform or large-scale enterprise system will also be considered.

• Strong experience in programme planning, governance, risk, issue, dependency and change management.

• Demonstrated experience coordinating system integration, data migration, testing, cutover and operational readiness across multiple workstreams.

• Proven experience managing implementation partners, system integrators and third-party vendors, including delivery commitments, performance, resourcing and escalations.

• Strong stakeholder-management and communication skills, with the ability to influence executives, academic leaders, technical specialists, operational teams and external partners.

• Experience working in a matrix environment with distributed or international teams.

• The ability to make sound decisions with incomplete information, challenge constructively and maintain momentum through ambiguity.

• Relevant project or programme management qualifications. PMP, PRINCE2, MSP or an equivalent certification would be highly regarded.
