What’s the job? 
As the Work Health and Safety Manager, you’ll lead the planning, implementation and continuous improvement of work health and safety across Torrens Global Education and its related entities. Acting as a trusted consultant to all levels of staff, you’ll promote safe working practices, strengthen awareness and help ensure compliance with legislation and workplace obligations. 

You’ll partner with business units and leaders to identify and manage physical and psychological risks, provide practical advice and maintain effective health and safety frameworks. The role also manages work-related and non-work-related injuries, workers compensation claims, reporting, training, incident investigations and WHS projects across the organisation. 

You’ll help foster a culture of safety awareness and accountability by encouraging open communication, timely reporting and participation in safety initiatives. Working closely with HR, campus, risk and project teams, you’ll support measurable safety improvements and maintain the organisation’s readiness to meet its regulatory and compliance responsibilities. 

Principal accountabilities include (but are not limited to): 

• Partner with business units to provide advice on safe workplace obligations, frameworks, tools and legislation, helping teams mitigate physical and psychological risks. 

• Manage work-related and non-work-related injuries end to end and effectively manage workers compensation claims to support employees and mitigate organisational risk. 

• Manage the annual renewal of workers compensation premiums, assess cost drivers and identify opportunities for improvement. 

• Develop, coordinate and maintain WHS frameworks, policies, records and information across the organisation. 

• Monitor legislative changes and maintain ongoing compliance with WHS requirements, including relevant regulatory standards and codes of practice. 

• Develop and deliver health and safety training for key stakeholders. 

• Collaborate with department managers to investigate accidents, incidents and near misses and recommend corrective actions to prevent recurrence. 

Who you are 

• A WHS professional with qualifications in work health and safety and/or at least six years’ experience in this specialist area. 

• A holder of a Return to Work Coordinator certificate for South Australia. 

• Experienced in applying WHS legislation, regulations and codes of practice in a complex organisation. 

• Experienced in managing work-related injuries, workers compensation claims and end-to-end case management. 

• A confident project lead with experience delivering work health and safety initiatives and practical improvements. 

• A strong communicator and relationship builder who can consult effectively with leaders, employees and diverse stakeholders. 

• Highly organised and self-directed, with the ability to manage competing priorities and day-to-day workflow under broad supervision.

This is a full-time, permanent position offering hybrid flexibility, with the opportunity to work from home and from one of our campuses. Preferred location Sydney or Melbourne we are also open to Adelaide and Brisbane location for this role.
